The Wild host San Jose in the annual "Hockey Fights Cancer" night in support of the disease that has touched each and every one of us.

This is a very special evening for me as my wife Meghan was diagnosed with colon cancer earlier this year. She is a survivor thanks to early detection and screening. Following surgery and chemotherapy she is a survivor and the prognosis is good for her. The fears and lasting effects of chemo will remain a part of her life, but she is helping others to face this dreaded disease with a positive attitude daily.

It is rather appropriate that the Wild opponent tonight is the Sharks who's Oskar Lindblom, is a cancer survivor himself. Lindblom was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma when he was a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. He battled his way through chemotherapy to return to the NHL.

Organization news saw Jesper Wallstedt, the Wild's prized prospect goaltender, notch his first AHL win last night and in the process, he made history scoring a goal into the empty net. Signs of exciting things to come down the road for the Wild.

It's always Hockey Day in The State of Hockey!
