Not all is starting off well in Toronto... again.

We are already seeing jerseys burned already and rumors swirling about Barry Trotz.

I could see a move to Trotz working, for sure. Trotz gets his teams to work hard, while being defensively responsible. Trotz has said he is OK not coaching this year, while also saying an Original Six team would hold interest to him. This Leafs team feels very stale and needs a change, and while I wouldn’t put it all on the coaches, changing players is much harder to do.

As we have seen with William Nylander.

Over the years, the Leafs have continually talked to teams about the talented yet wildly inconsistent Nylander. And Nylander is once again being discussed around the league. However, what might be different this time is there's actually four teams involved. This could happen.

1. Arizona. This has been going for a long time. There is a growing belief the Yotes need a star-quality player who can light up the crowd in the new small arena.

2. Buffalo. The Sabres are looking strong, and the thought of them and their antithesis the Leafs making a deal was once unthinkable. Yet I hear there is an internal push within the Sabres. It is also entirely plausible that the Leafs would use the Sabres to drive up prices..

3. NY Islanders. Lou Lamoriello has ALWAYS loved Nylander and he needs scoring. The Isles are having some success, but still requiring Sorokin to be superhuman as we saw in the win this past week against the Rangers..

4. LA Kings: The Kings have always liked Nylander and perhaps more importantly there are people in the hockey world who have been saying how Nylander has wanted to play on the LA Kings. Some of these folks were the people who said Panarin wants to be a Ranger….By the way, we Also hear Patrik Laine wants to be a King at some point..
