More coming as I work on a few things, including my look at the Western Conference teams with the most guys you would trade a tenth overall pick for AND a what could be a developing story in Philly…but as always, when a rumor pops up we drop all else and chase…especially when that rumor pertains to a goalie who may be the BEST deadline pickup in net we have ever seen.

Marc Andre Fleury is a game changer. I don’t care how his regular season in Chicago is going, Fleury is not going to be Fleury until he is playing games with some meaning. We saw it when he went into Vegas this month and won a game by himself. We will see it again when he straps on the jersey of a true Contender…

There are at least four teams in this…but two of the four have a reason to pull the trigger sooner than later. Edmonton and Washington are still in a battle for the playoffs, and yet both teams could also be 1 MAF away from not only playoff assurances, but serious contention.

The Caps and Oilers have one thing in common. Both started off hot, and BOTH are 3-5-2 in their last ten.

Today I was awoken by an early morning call regarding Fleury and the Washington Capitals…I am told that Ovechkin wants this to happen AND THAT holds some weight. Edmonton has won two in a row with better play out of Koskinen, but there is no feeling that he will lead this team to glory…

The Caps are in a playoff spot, but the Islanders are coming and with games in hand have made up a lot of ground. The Isles have made up 8 points in the last 10 games and if the Isles win their 8 games in hand they would only be 3 points behind Washington.

Washington is feeling the heat and also is concerned Edmonton could pull the trigger at any time…There are other goalie options, but only one Fleury….

Minnesota and Colorado can afford to wait, and could survive without making a move for MAF, but surviving and raising a Cup are two different things…

More to come..
