First off, for the latest Sens updates, please follow me on Twitter at

The Ottawa Senators played a terrific road game tonight and in doing so, knocked off the Devils 3-2 in a shootout! The Sens have now won three games in a row for the first time season and Anton Forsberg has been in goal for all three wins, keeping his team in games when they need it most. Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson each scored their 8th goal of the year to lead the way for Ottawa.

The Sens got off to a slow start again tonight allowing a Devils goal in the first two minutes. TSN had a stat up during the first intermission showing how Ottawa had allowed the first goal in the opening two minutes in 4 of their last 5 games. They need to eliminate these bad starts but at least they had another solid second period tonight, which has been their achilles heel over the past few years.

Tim Stutzle continued his great play tonight and added a goal in the shootout. I still would like to see Formenton get some time on the 2nd line in place of Nick Paul at LW. Formenton created some solid chances with his speed and if you pair him up with Stutzle, one can only imagine how it would put the opposing defense on their heels.

I had hoped that DJ Smith would limit Thomas Chabot's TOI a bit due to the 5 games in 7 nights. Mete and Thomson saw very little TOI and he's going to need to use all six in a more balanced fashion on the blueline tomorrow night with a fresh Islanders team in town. Chabot did have a great game tonight, constantly getting pucks to the net and creating chances in the transition game. Nick Holden might've had his best game as a Senators tonight, logging a season high TOI at just under 24 minutes. There's no doubt the top 4 on defense have played better lately, but DJ needs to stabilize things with the bottom pairing because you can't rely on the top four like that all the time, it will eventually catch up to Ottawa.

Ottawa now plays their 5th game in 7 nights tomorrow night when they host the NY Islanders, who by the way, didn't play tonight and will most definitely be a rested bunch. The Isles have lost 11 games in a row so you know the Sens will be in tough as they will have had to deal with travel and a game. I would imagine Filip Gustavsson will get the start in goal due to the back-to-back situation for the Senators.

Lastly, I would really like to hear Sens fan's thoughts on the presser that Sens GM Pierre Dorion had on Saturday. I'm still very surprised that Pierre McGuire has been radio silent since training camp when Dorion himself said that part of McGuire's duties would be to speak to the media so he wouldn't have to do it as much anymore.

Thanks for reading.
