Coming off back-to-back losses, the Anaheim Ducks got more bad news, as forward Max Jones will undergo surgery on a torn pectoral muscle and is expected to miss 4-6 months.

Jones played in two games with the Ducks this season, after missing the first game of the season due to illness, then missing the last two games with the injury. The 23-year-old forward had seven goals and 11 points in 46 games with the Ducks last season.

Given the timeline, if Jones does return this season, it wouldn’t be until late in the year. The Ducks have a young, fairly crowded forward group so Jones’ absence will lend an opportunity for others to step up, but it’s obviously unfortunate to see Jones injured, especially this early and for so long.
