Tonight's game will be a big test for the young New Jersey Devils as they are battling the injury bug. Scott Wedgewood gets the call in net as Jonathan Bernier is listed day-to-day nursing a nagging injury from preseason. Nico Daws will be backing him up. Mackenzie Blackwood is improving along with Ty Smith and won't be playing tonight.
Jack Hughes is out with a dislocated shoulder after taking a vicious hit from the Seattle Kraken. Good news, no surgery is needed and is already rehabbing. We'll know more later net week on his progress.
Things to look out for: The Devils penalty killing units versus the Capitals. Last season, the Devils lost all of their games but expect Dougie Hamilton and Ryan Graves neutralize the Capitals. If the Devils can position themselves well upfront and Scott Wedgewood can see the puck, the Devils will be in good shape on the kill. If not, it will be a long night.
Prediction: Michael McLeod will be the difference. Devils win in OT 2-1.
