The Los Angeles Kings announced yesterday that they’ve signed forward Martin Chromiak to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Chromiak was selected by the Kings in the fifth round of last year’s NHL Draft. He spent this past season playing in Slovakia’s highest professional league, where he scored seven goals and 19 points in 32 games.

Upon being drafted in the fifth round, I saw Chromiak as a steal for the Kings. While it’s tough to judge his potential offensive upside, there’s a good chance he could end up winning a roster spot down the road.
