The Edmonton Oilers will play their last game of the season against the Ottawa Senators this evening. In the first 8 games, Edmonton has outscored the Senators 38 to 17, with Draisaitl and McDavid in particular feasting on the bottom dwelling Sens. I know fans of other North Division teams will try and say the only reason the Oilers are in a playoff spot is because of how they beat the Senators. I don't buy it. Yes, the Oilers would be 16-14-2 on the season if they didn't play Ottawa but every other team in the North Division has had a chance to take those points too. Edmonton has consistently beat a team that is worse than them. That's what is supposed to happen.

No word yet on line combinations but we know Mike Smith will start,

4 GAME THOUGHTS

1.) Finish With A Win -
You have to know that's what is being said in the Senators locker room before the game. Edmonton has dominated Ottawa and the coach is most likely telling his guys tonight to forget the other 8 games and earn a win. The Sens are going to come out tough.

2.) Not Right - That is the best way I can describe the Oilers play as of late. The team isn't on a massive losing streak but things just aren't gelling right through the lineup right now. Fatigue is likely a factor but every team this year has dealt with fatigue.

3.) Yammer and JP - Yamamoto and Puljujarvi have both been quiet on the scoreboard but both have been getting some praise lately for their play away from the puck. Yamamoto continues to show his mean streak with some solid checking and Puljujarvi forechecks like a fiend as is getting involved. I think one of them scores tonight.

4.) Finish Strong -
In a move that shouldn't surprise anyone, the League has announced that both games against the Canucks next week have been postponed. Edmonton plays tonight then heads on the road to Calgary on Saturday to take on the Flames. After that the team will have a week of rest at home. Use whatever is left in the tank and finish these two games on a high note.
