NHL Teams May Have B-Team Games Prior to Regular Season Games; Thur's Buzz

Back later with your rumor report, but yesterday I talked to a source about the AHL. There are still doubts as to whether or not the AHL will be able to play this year without fans in the seats. That is a terrible reality and I truly hope the NHL helps out the AHL franchises until there is a chance for recovery.

If there is no AHL, what can the teams do with their players who are currently in the AHL? Players whose development is forever linked to the NHL team's success need to play to develop.

One solution that I have heard has been proposed is to form development teams, which essentially are B-teams. These players would practice with the big club and play actual games against other team's B-teams...often right before the main event happens in an NHL arena.

What are your thoughts?
