With the NHL Draft approaching, the Anaheim Ducks will have an important decision to make with the sixth-overall pick. I wrote an article in June, which highlighted seven players who the Ducks could select with the sixth-overall pick and over the next week or so, I’ll be doing individual player profiles on them. This article will focus on Jack Quinn.

Quinn had a massive second half of the OHL season with the Ottawa 67’s this year, scoring 33 goals and 55 points in 32 games after the Holiday break. He skyrocketed up the NHL Draft rankings, finishing the year with 52 goals and 89 points in 62 games.

As you can tell by those numbers, Quinn is a goal scorer. Accuracy is a huge strength for Quinn’s shot and he can pick corners while coming down the wing. He’s also very patient with the puck and isn’t afraid to hang onto it and avoid some defenders before taking his shot. He's also always finding open ice to get into position to receive a pass or digging around the net looking for a loose puck.

If we were to relate his strengths to another player in the draft, it would be the forward that we discussed yesterday, Alexander Holtz. Both have a great shot and their primary asset is scoring goals, though they’re both strong skaters as well.

I’m going to sound like a broken record but while I think that Quinn could be a great pick closer to 10th overall, I don’t know that I see the Ducks using the sixth-overall pick to select him. I’ve said this before but in my opinion, there’s quite a large gap between Quinn and his Ottawa 67’s teammate Marco Rossi, who could potentially still be available at that point.

Quinn can score and will make for a strong top-six forward in the NHL but he doesn’t necessarily have the same all-around upside as some other players who could still be available for the Ducks.
