Predicting the East Play-in Rounds & Order of the Top Teams

July 31, 2020, 12:42 PM ET [75 Comments]
Now that we have all seen what these teams look like, its time to get down to it...

Pittsburgh vs. Montreal

This series feels like all Penguins, and that scares the crap out of me. The Canadiens have nothing to lose and they are a very fast team. They are young and playing with house money. Plus, they are the Canadiens...Game 1 WILL go to Montreal. I think the Penguins get through, but barely...in 5

Toronto vs. Columbus

Columbus is going to be too much for the Leafs when it comes to work ethic. Toronto has the talent up front to play with anyone, but the Jackets 4 lines of forecheck are going to lead to a devastating amount of turnovers...I am going Columbus in 4

NY Rangers vs. Carolina

The Rangers are going to be incredible and Carolina will be right there with them in 5 years...Don't buy into the fact that the Rangers have dominated the Canes. Brind'amour has been playing the underdog card to perfection....The Rangers hardest thing will be getting out of their heads here.. Carolina in 5

NY Islanders and Florida

The Islanders and Trotz are going to find a way to control the game. Florida is a little lost right now...Bobrovsky COULD change this series on his own, but if he doesn't Isles in 4.

The top 4 team rankings will be

#1. Tampa
#2. Philly
#3. Boston
#4. Washington

That means the opening round of the playoffs will be...

Tampa vs. Columbus (That will be fun!)
Philly vs NY Isles (The only team the Flyers have a losing record against among the Qualifiers)
Boston vs. Carolina (History in the Playoffs)
Washington vs. Pittsburgh (87 vs 8 say no more!)

Next blog will preview the West...
