Leafs win versus Boston is bigger than two points + Columbus |

There are certain teams the Leafs play that I get myself all worked up for. The Bruins are certainly the team I dislike the most. It could be the past matchups in the playoffs, their fans, their horrendous announcer (he really is an embarrassment to the sport), Chara, Marchand, the list goes on. But one thing that’s really irritated me over the last few seasons is the lack of consistency when it comes to the refs.
It’s beyond pathetic, and it seems each game that passes the refs couldn’t stoop any lower with their horrendous calls. Sure the Boston fans laugh and think it’s all a big joke and “Leafs, Habs, hahaha” yeah well this has gone on too long and it looks like I’m not the only one who’s had enough of this crap.
Babcock lost it in his press conference after the game. I wouldn’t be surprised the least bit if the Leafs organization sent the NHL some tape from Saturday night’s contest between the Leafs and Bruins. Hopefully Babcock’s shredding of the feeble refereeing won’t backlash against the Leafs with even more garbage officiating ahead. Let’s go boys, do your job.
I thought we may see Babcock actually ejected from the game. Looked like at one point he was considering grabbing a bottle or something to toss on the ice out of disgust. I swear it crossed Babs mind! It wasn’t a piece of gum he was reaching for, he knows where those bad boys are stored as he’s firing a new piece in there every commercial break.
Running the goalie is apparently ok. Something the Leafs will have to keep in mind when they play Boston tomorrow night. Marchand and that dead beat Backes both took a shot at Andersen and I think we see the Leafs retaliate tomorrow night. Hopefully they retaliate on the scoreboard and embarrass the Bruins at home. No better way to do it if you ask me.
First things first, the Leafs will have their hands full with Columbus tonight. The Blue Jackets are still figuring things out after losing Panarin and Bobrovsky. Korpisalo will man the fort for the Jackets tonight and he’s been decent out the gates posting a 3-2-1 record. It will certainly be a tough matchup as the Leafs are scoring machines, averaging 3.9 goals a game (which is third in the NHL).
With the Leafs starting Andersen tonight it makes me wonder if they have plans to give Andersen back to back starts this week. The Leafs and their coaching staff have to be a bit worried about Hutchinson in net as he’s been far from stellar in his first couple games.
Speaking of which, it’s October 21st and we’re already preparing for our third back to back? This is one whacky schedule if you ask me! I for one am happy to get all of these back to back’s out of the way; I feel a lighter schedule towards the end of the season will bode well for the Leafs.
Word has it the Leafs are doing some serious scouting at tonight’s game. Could it be a potential backup goalie the Leafs are looking at? Let’s hope so, I don’t know if I can handle another night of Hutch between the pipes. The future in net for the Jackets is youngster Elvis Merzlikins, perhaps the Leafs are taking a hard look at Korpisalo for the back up job? He make’s 1.15 million per season; could he be the missing link?
With that being said, when your watching tonight’s game lets keep an eye on Korpisalo. When you got a hunch you got a hunch!?
Korpisalo is 25, from Finland and has played his entire career with Columbus. There was a season when Bobrovsky was hurt and Korpisalo had to play a bundle of games. He was a rookie, and went 16-11-4 with a .920 save % and 2.60 GAA. Since then he’s been used somewhat sparingly as Bobrovsky was the prized horse and until he’s out the door there isn’t much the Jackets can do in terms of giving more playing time.
