I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and are able to relax today and this weekend. I am going to make this a very quick blog for the game thread as I am swamped at work this weekend. The Hawks are going to be taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs this afternoon. The first time these teams met, the Hawks put together a great team effort behind a fantastic performance from Arvid Sodeblom and came away with a 4-1 victory. After the absolute egg this team dropped on Wednesday against the Blue Jackets, you hope to see a better effort. However, with the news of some big injuries and mystery absences, will this team stand a chance against the high-flying Leafs?
The Hawks will turn to Arvid Soderblom in net for this one. He had a better outing in his last start against Nashville and then allowed two goals on eight shots on Wednesday in relief for Mrazek. Let's hope he has another great game against Toronto in him, because the team is going to need it.
The Curious Case of Corey Perry
There is a lot of mystery going around regarding why Perry is a healthy scratch. The players seem to be in the dark (at least that’s the story they are sticking to), and Coach Richardson won’t discuss it, saying it is a team matter that will be handled behind closed doors. Its hard to not go to the worst-case scenario here given the recent history with this team and how they have handled issues, but at what point is keeping it in house going to make things worse? Unless it’s a personal matter, such as Zaistev recently went through, the way this team is handling this situation must be something big. Hopefully, it will turn out to be a bigger issue than it really is, and we will see him back in the lineup soon, as he has been a big piece of this team.
That’s going to be it from me; puck drop is at 1 p.m. central, and as always, let's go Hawks!
