The hockey gameday onslaught continues to occur for this Columbus team , but the end is near with very little game action next week.
First, let’s address the game I missed due to illness - Boston.
Great contribution by Boone Jenner to help support the young boy with open heart surgery and gifting him a signed hockey stick. To cap it off, he even got his 13th goal of the season. Brad Marchand had the natural hat-trick in the third period for a Bruins 3-1 victory.
CBJ 3 stars of the game
1. Boone Jenner - goal (13)
2. Zach Werenski - assist (18)
3. Mathieu Olivier — assist (4)
This week, the Blue Jackets have Pierre-Luc Dubois on his new LA Kings squad on Tuesday. They have the New York Islanders, who just picked up former Blue Jackets’ draft pick Mike Rilley in Queens on Thursday. They travel back home the next night to battle Brandon Saad and the St. Louis Blues. Sunday they get the Cats on the NHL Network Showcase Sunday.
Columbus has played 26 games, the most of the 32 in the league. The least is at 19, the last place Sens, in the East. Only two points separate the Senators and Jackets.
8 - the number of ones Columbus has - is the same as Minnesota, Seattle. Chicago and San Jose have fewer. 20 - the amount of points Columbus has - is the same as Minnesota and Anaheim. Edmonton had 19. Ottawa has 18. San Jose and Chicago have 14.
After a 9 game losing skid, Columbus closed the month with 3 wins in the final 5 games. With the Friday win and last night’s lost, they have won 4 of 7 from Thanksgiving Eve through Sunday night.
After the four games this week, there is three days off. Great time to rest before the holidays and new year. Reset physically and mentally.
Preview coming in the afternoon for Blue Jackets and Kings.
