The shot heard around the Greater Toronto Area. 17 seconds after Lundell tied the game at three in the third period last night. Marner threw a knuckle ball at Bobrovsky which sailed over his shoulder and clanged off the crossbar and in for all to hear as the Leafs took the lead and that's all she wrote. Leafs have never lost a series they were up 2-0 (after games 1-2 at home).
Toronto recorded multiple 2-0 series leads in a best-of-seven during the same postseason for the first time in 62 years and sixth time in franchise history.
Nylander scored again, that's six goals in the playoffs, which is most in the playoffs by a Leafs player, since Nieuwendyk had 6 in 2004.
When teams hold a 2-0 series lead in NHL history with games 1-2 at home, they win the series 88% of the time. Panthers have never won a series being down 2-0 (0-5).
Woll played great, he was steady, and most importantly he shutdown everything the Panthers sent his way when it was 4-3. It was nice to see that he got his game back after the shaky relief appearance in game one. Also nice to have Murray back him up, there's a guy who knows how to win in the playoffs.
Hopefully game three the officiating will be more consistent. There was a good stretch last night where it was difficult to figure out what a penalty was, Holmberg is proof of that.
I shall return Friday morning with a tee up game 3 column.
