Here it is May 2, the anniversary of the last Leafs cup. Instead of talking about maybe next year and the Toronto possible collapse against Ottawa. We're talking about another round of the playoffs coming up and Leafs with the home ice hammer again. I mentioned on social media that I think Toronto will have an easier time with the Panthers than with the Senators. All 12 Florida fans accused me of being on some kind of stimulant. It's amazing how people run their mouths reckless before even a game is played and the Leafs won the Atlantic. So being mean and hurtful several days in advance of any type of puck participation, is wee bit outside the boundaries of good taste.

Lucky for the Leafs last night that Alex Nylander was unavailable and Willie was inserted for him. Especially on Will's birthday.

The guys that needed to show up did, that was a full team effort. And former Habs captain Max Pacioretty scoring the game winning goal to clinch the series was a poetic justice. Especially with Montreal losing the day before. The other Max, Domi, worked his butt off behind the icing line to set it up. Pacioretty will have a much bigger role come Panthers time.

Which is allegedly scheduled for a Monday game 1.

I will be back tomorrow with a column looking ahead to the series
