The Grand Rapids Griffins did a series summary as tonight is a potential elimination game for the Wings AHL affiliate. In order to earn that sweet, sweet bus pass to Milwaukee for a game 5, Grand Rapids is going to have to be a different team tonight.

Cossa held the team in as the team had a combined 10 shots in the first 2 periods but managed to score and be in a 1 goal game. In the third, as was the way of the club, the team poured it on and looked completely different as they amassed 16 shots and got the game to overtime. An Overtime loss was tough, but this is not a winning formula. Milwaukee is incredibly physical and are ready at puck drop. 20 minutes of effort in regulation isn’t going to cut it.

A win tonight, in honesty, would be a surprise and a welcome one. Grand Rapids will have to give from the start the type of effort reserved for 3rd period come backs. That formula worked to get them to the post season (most 3rd round comebacks in the AHL) but isn’t enough to get through the post season. The brass is in full attendance with estimates of around 20 office members/staff from the organization in attendance.

For the Griffins, tonight may be the last time for some to suit up for the West Side Wunderkin. The hope is, win or lose, they give the best 60 minute effort of the post season. Leave it all on the ice tonight.
