11 players yesterday and
3 more today as Detroit gets ready to get into a pre season game vs. Pittsburgh. I’ve been going through lineup thoughts and doing my own pondering.
NHL.com did the following as a projected lineup:
PROJECTED LINEUP
Lucas Raymond -- Dylan Larkin -- Alex DeBrincat
Jonathan Berggren -- J.T. Compher -- David Perron
Robby Fabbri -- Andrew Copp -- Daniel Sprong
Klim Kostin -- Michael Rasmussen -- Christian Fischer
Jake Walman -- Moritz Seider
Ben Chiarot -- Jeff Petry
Shayne Gostisbehere -- Justin Holl
Ville Husso
James Reimer
It’s an interesting take, to be sure. You can list your own thoughts (please do). The top line will probably have some flexibility, and I was surprised to see Berggren on the 2nd line. He played hard at camp and is emerging as a good pickup by Holland (noting that Veleno isn’t listed on this version).
For goal scoring, what I want to see are at least a couple players hit 30. Larkin has eclipsed that number 3 times including the past 2 consecutively. Debrincat has broken 30 once and 40 twice (so technically 30 3 times) and had 27 last year. Those are two I’m looking at. If you think someone else will hit 30 lay it down in the comments.
Finally, two players who could push for spots that would send someone packing could be Edvinsson and Anisimov. Edvinsson would really have to have a solid pre season for the team to throw a d man on waivers. The same goes for Anisimov. It felt like both had their moments at camp and were noticeable. The issue with Anisimov is going to be age/injury related and who do you risk on waivers to make room?
Take a minute to let everyone know who you think could make life tough for the office (or if you don’t think anyone will grab a spot). It will be fun to watch the preseason and see what the final roster looks like. It starts tomorrow.
