After a disappointing 4-3 loss to the New York Islanders on Saturday (a game they should have won), the Panthers will look to bounce back against the a strong 14-6-3 Dallas Stars team.
Something that stood out to me in the loss to the Islanders — and something the Cats should correct — was their inability to keep the net cleared. It seemed on every goal (minus the quick face-off one), there was a NY player in the Cats’ blue paint. You can’t prevent guys from hanging out in front of the net, but you can at least try and tangle them up, something Florida defensemen struggled to do — leading to NYI getting second and third looks. And, of course, better rebound control from Stolarz would have helped.
Anyways…Dallas sits in second place of the Central Division and are led by the red-hot Jason Robertson, who has 13 points in the last 16 games. And don’t sleep on “Old Man” Joe Pavelski…the veteran winger leads the Stars in goals (11) and points (24).
What’s really interesting is the near-identical numbers of the starting goaltenders for tonight:
Bob
Record: 11-6-1
GAA: 2.41
SV%: .912
Oettinger
Record: 10-5-2
GAA: 2.53
SV%: .915
If the Panthers can figure out Dallas’ defense to get to Oettinger, tonight has the potential to be a great goalie dual.
Here’s what the Florida lines could look like:
