It was a great weekend for Sidney Crosby and the Penguins to bond while visiting Nova Scotia. The preseason game did not go so well. The Penguins were shutout in Sid’s hometown visit by a score of 3-0. It was a disappointing result for all the people excited to see Sid play at home.
Outside of the significance of Crosby playing at home it was just another preseason game. The one takeaway I had from the game was the power play not showing any signs of progress. Even so, I’m not all that concerned with it. The talent is there and the concept of creating 2v1’s with a man advantage isn’t all that complicated. I think they will find a groove and success as time moves on. It is way too early to be panicked or upset about it.
For those looking for some good news there was a nice development at practice today. Jake Guentzel donned a normal jersey for the first time since his injury.
This is very good development heading into the season. I imagine he will still miss some games, but it is a necessary development to get him back. Very encouraging to see and it will be fun to see him back on the ice as he is one of their best players.
