This just in tonight…

Karill Kaprisov and the Minnesota Wild have broken off discussions involving an extension. As I wrote a few days ago, I have no doubt that the Wild will put in the biggest offer for Kaprisov of any team, but I do feel like his heart is set on going to Chicago.

If that is the case, do the Wild stick out the season with him, or do they try to pull off a trade with Chicago? I don’t think the Hawks have anything they really give Minnesota in this deal….

I think he might be more valuable to Minnesota than anybody else this season, and knowing that he’s going to be a UFA, why not take his best play and try to run with it if you’re the Wild? You never want to lose a guy like this for nothing, but you really never do lose them for nothing because of the cap space that’s created.
