Happy Buyout Eve! Who Will Become UFA’s (who wants them). Marchment Trade |

Breaking news, the Dallas Stars have traded Mason Marchment to the Seattle Kraken for draft picks… marsh was also on the Flyers radar..
We currently sit on the eve of NHL buyout day, which has recently turned into a day where many new UFAs are entered into the pot as they are bought out because teams can’t afford them, or they’ve fallen off…. But more and more it’s just that teams can’t afford them.
Here are some I am hearing… more to be added
Buffalo
Matttias Samuelson
He’s become a very injury-prone defenseman for Buffalo, but the guy is also 66 feet 4 and is only 25 years old. That’s a really young age to give up on a defenseman, but the Sabres just can’t deal with the $42. million cap hit… it will be very interesting when he finds a new home. Look to Vancouver sand Minnesota….
St. Louis
Matthieu Joseph
He was innefective last year: 60 GP, 4 G, 10 A. This will give the Blues an extra $2.2M in cap space. The thing about Joseph is he was really good only a year ago with the Sens. (35 point) Could he return there? Ottawa had to give him up a year ago because of a tighter cap…. Another team I would look at is the team he started out with. Tampa…..
Seattle
Phil Grubauer
Remember what a big deal it was when Seattle signed him in their first year? He was coming off the season where he was a Vezina finalist for Colorado, and before that he was an impact player for sure in Washington…. But Joey Daccord really turned heads this past season and Grubauer found himself on the bench… buying him out will give Seattle 4 million in cap space…. I’m very curious if he finds himself in a place like Philadelphia. Playing the veteran back-up.
Edmonton.
Victor Arvodsson
Was it me or did Vixctor play a pretty good brand of hockey in the Stanley Cup playoffs this year? I was especially surprised when he was scratched in the finals. He brings a lot of speed, energy and grit….. someone will pick him up relatively quickly after he’s bought out. The Oilers have boig contracts coming down the line, including Evan Bouchard this year. Arvidsson is just a matter of the numbers game here. Personally, I would like to see a return to Nashville, where I really thought he was an integral part of the team. Montreal has a lot of interest I’m told.
I will add more as they become unavailable…. Have a good night.
