This is it! The cover is in the building as they say?

That also means that the Panthers players have brought in all their family for this game, but will they have to fly all those people and get some seats in Edmonton?

Having been behind the scenes of the Stanley Cup finals on at least a dozen occasions, I’m always amazed by the work that’s put in and how much has to happen behind the scenes when the series is extended. Flights, hotel rooms, not just for the players family, but for the entire NHL machine.

There are a lot of league and team travel agents who are not going to behappy if this goes back to Edmonton for…. I’ve been in the press box 1st hand, and listened to people cursing it out what a series is extended. I’ve had flights booked on my screen, waiting to hit confirm when the last buzzer sounds. There are so many people whose lives will be different depending on whether or not the series ends tonight or not. A puck, hitting the post or a bad penalty or almost anything s motion the machine, and all those on board.

And of course, Edmonton wants all those people’s lives to be disrupted. And of course any hockey fan, who doesn’t have a bear in this fight, would love to see game seven. It’s just great theater, but it is a logistical nightmare.

And frankly, I love it. There are some reporters who are very unhappy about it, but I personally, whenever I covered the cup finals, even though a last minute trip to Edmonton is gonna cost me a lot of money, I still wanted it to happen. It’s just too good.

So my question for you guys is….

Will the circus continue to Edmonton for one more show?
