Happy Monday, It’s JUNE! And that could only mean one thing. Time to get back to rumors. Tons of calls being made as many team managements are returning to the office after their summer vacations…
On Demko…
Thatcher Demko has become a bit of an oft-injured enigma, but there is no doubting the guy’s abilities when healthy. The Canucks are extremely interested in massive change, and there are many reports out there that a few teams are talking to Vancouver about retaining salary on Demko in a trade. Currently, Carolina (e2), Toronto (e2), Utah (e2), and Anaheim (e3) appeatr to be the most interested…Anaheim taking Demko would be part of a trade that would send John Gibson to Vancouver. Both could do well with a change of scenery…
On the Flyers moving up in the draft…
Philly would like very much to jump into the 2, 3,or 4 spot in the draft and have plenty of capital on hand to do so…Not only the many other draft picks they have made available, but they also hace they three Grade A prospects in Jet Luchenko, Alex Bump, and star/captain of the Memorial Cup champs Denver Barkey whose stock has risen rapidly… In Luchenko you have a top pick, in Bump you have one of the top 5 players in college hockey and on Barkley one of the top 5 players in the CHL. Not a bad stable at all….and don’t forget one of the top D in Bonk….
On the Rangers….
The Rangers are taking numerous calls on Laferniere and Kreider. A source in NY tells me it’s 100% that one will be gone by camp. And 75% that both are gone…The Bruins have been the most forward in their offers I am told, and are interested in both…at least considering it.
On the Kings…
Don’t sleep on the Kings. I have been told by a few sources and two players that the Kings are working up something MAJOR, that will be the biggest deal of the year, but the player they are “likely to land” is still playing in the Cup Finals. I don’t float rumors about players still playing in the playoffs…Part of the reason I have so much trust among these guys is they know I won’t…but if this happens….lookout.
