Tonight the Maple Leafs have their back against the wall when they enter into sunrise to play the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, who are on the verge of going back to the conference final…
It would be easy to look at the last game in Toronto, where fans were found, throwing jerseys onto the ice after the game, that this is all about a done deal for Florida…
So my job today, as the hockey optimist, will be able to talk about the good stuff with the Toronto Maple Leafs going into tonight’s game
1. These Florida Panthers have been very strong in the playoffs since Maurice took over, however, they haven’t been the best team around at finishing series. They’ve had early leads and series get away from them the best example being last year in the Stanley Cup finals when they were up 3-0 and Edmonton stretched it to a game seven.
2. With the exception of game five the Maple Leafs have been very much in this series without getting a lot of scoring from their top players. Imagine if they start to get scoring…
3. Florida is good, but so is TORONTO. These are the two best teams left in the eastern conference right now playing basically what is the conference final in my opinion.
4. Toronto is one way away from making a game seven or anything can happen. This isn’t a 3-1 SERIES or 3-0 series.
