Blues Quietly Shopping Hayes

One year after the St. Louis Blues acquired Kevin Hayes from the Philadelphia Flyers at a steep discount -- a 2024 sixth-round pick going to Philadelphia, the Flyers retaining half ($3.571 million) of Hayes remaining contract -- I'm hearing that the Blues are willing to move on from the veteran center this summer.

Hayes has two seasons left on his current contract. An NHL All-Star Game selection in 2022-23 despite clashes with head coach John Tortorella -- and a severe production drop in the second half -- Hayes had a tough first season with the Blues. He dropped to 13 goals and 29 points after posting 18 goals and 54 points the previous year. Hayes turned 32 on May 8.

With roughly $15.6 million in cap space heading into the offseason, the Blues are willing to be flexible in how a deal would be constructed if the player is moved.
