Anyway, the NHL Insiders from ESPN have put together their “Future Power Rankings and it is of course a list behind a paywall, however, I will note some of the newsworthy predictions, they made..and then give my own…would love your take…

Ok….why exactly? The Jets could be the best, but could just as easily be the worst. I like what Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and even Vancouver could look like in three years…a lot more…

#29 San Jose: With the prospects, picks, and a crafty GM they are going to leap frog many team quicker than this…plus they have an Eklund…so there’s that.
#26 St Louis Blues: Nope. Armstrong is too aggressive and too skilled a GM. They will be at least top 20
#3 Buffalo Sabres: There is NO bigger Don Granato fan than I am..But my prediction is Sabres fans won’t like this prediction…one bit. They will battle and likely find a playoff spot first…I love so much about them…but couldn’t see them in 3 years in the top ten…5 years? Maybe…
#5 Seattle Krakken: Whoa….They had a great season, and looked tough in the playoffs, but we are talking at least 5 years from being top ten…and thats if all goes perfectly…Not every expansion team wins a Cup in 5 years…
#12 Florida Panthers: Their run to the Cup Final was not a coincidence. You don’t roll over teams in 4 and 5 games plus beat the greatest regular season team in 7…If Florida was semi-healthy they would have won the Cup. And they have some serious dead money coming off soon..Imagine what Zito could do with space?
#24 Boston…. It’s a trap! It’s a trap! When will we learn that Boston NEVER falls this far. NEVER.
