Wait... is that time of recovery post surgery or post the social media post? Like for Letang is it 8 total weeks or 8 weeks after this post/update?

Why don't you back up your claim that the Oilers star players are great leaders first? What have they accomplished that proves they are great leaders? What have they accomplished that proves they have been unjustly denied the Cup victory they deserve but outside forces have conspired to deny them?

So you are unable to add any sort of validity or weight to your hollow opinion, cool. Thanks for ending that conversation. That made it easier.

Does it matter? either way, 8 weeks from today puts him at like July 10th which is way way before training camp begins.

I went back to last blog to see what was going on here. Been a nice while since I saw you and Feds taking turns at bat against other people. Gave me a nostalgic feeling.

Oh thank goodness. A really poopty injury to your hand that you feel like you can play through was definitely the best case scenario for Letang here. Count me as one of the people speculating it was something super concerning

I bet they poop still sucked though. I fell on my thumb in beer league and could barely close my thumb. It still hurts 4 weeks later haha.

I broke the poop out of my left ring finger building our house two years ago. It's crazy how much it affects everything you do.

I can totally see playing with it. Mine didn't really hurt at any point but it really affected anything to do with grip, beating on stuff, and twisting wirenuts.

Yeah finger injuries are no joke. I played my senior season of football with a splint on my middle finger because I ripped the tendon off the bone while making a tackle.

I’ve broken probably every finger, it sucks. Trying to like thread a nut onto a bolt or something like that is such a chore anymore.

You also purposefully avoid things because you know it’ll hurt. Can’t imagine how many times Letang might have laid off a shot or check knowing it’d cause him pain

I'm simply not playing along with goal post moving. The original claim made by Mr. Wilson was that the Oilers stars were good enough to win, except for goaltending. So either they've had crappy goaltending for nine years, or they're simply not good enough to win when the stakes are high, despite what Mr. Wilson might think of the individual stars. It's an easily verifiable fact. Period.

You seem to disagree with historical fact. I'm not sure why. Perhaps you have an unbounded admiration for these players. That's fine. Perhaps you feel personally offended by pointing out simple truths about their recorded game results. That's fine as well. You are free to like who you like. None of that changes the reality of the situation, those players have yet to be good enough to win it all.

Without looking I think both Connor and Leon average like 1.2 points per game in playoffs. Sid and Geno needed excellent goaltending in order to get their three rings... No ands, ifs or buts about it... In fact Fleury and Murray had to play at demi-God levels in some of those runs... Sometimes for a full series. The years the Pens fizzled out in one of the first two rounds with stacked rosters?.. Horrible goalie stats were involved, complete goalie meltdowns in some cases...

OK. But does any of that change the fact that the Oilers stars have not won a Stanley Cup yet? Or even made it to the Finals?

I mean, what Mr. Wilson claimed is the equivalent of saying "I'm (me, a fat slob with no NHL experience whatsoever) good enough to carry my team to victory...assuming I have Gretzky, Jagr, Lemieux, Coffey, Orr, and Brodeur all in their primes on my team." You can always add some kind of qualifier to make your statement plausible when recorded facts show that your statement is indeed wrong.

I mean, I just don't get the argument here. I'm not trying to take away anything from the players in discussion. They have great skill and talent. They've done great in achieving individual accomplishments. They excite a lot of people and make a lot of money and are really good at hockey. But it's a simple fact, they haven't even made it to the pinnacle, much less claimed it.

Explains why Letang couldn't handle the puck or shoot very well the second half of the season.

Teams have zero chance of winning a cup without good tending. Even more, you need the goalie to steal a few games along the way.

I still feel the failures during Bylsma's years had more to do with system than tending. MAF wasn't always good, but the team hung him out to dry a lot.

I think an easy thing to say is the Oilers stars put up numbers in the post season good enough to be the stars on the oilers in the post season. I don’t really watch the west so I’m not sure if they are doing everything in their absolute power to win. Also not sure if the goalie stats reflect the goals being scored.

97 is +20 at 5v5 from 2022-24 playoffs
Sid was +10 at 5v5 from 2016-18 playoffs and won 2 cups.
Sid is clearly a better leader because he told his goalies to not suck.

Citing plus/minus statistics? I'm sorry buddy, I didn't realize who I was talking to. I'll try to be nicer. And stop eating all your fruit snacks as well. Now then, isn't Bluey on the television or something?
