RussianProspects.com paints the picture of a speedy, skilled winger who doesn’t work well in the dirty areas.

A lot of the central teams having a rough offseason.
Columbus cant get rid of Nash.
Detroit cant pick anyone up.
Nashville having issues holding on to key players. |

Patrick Kane hasn't beat up a cabby or gotten caught shirtless with any skanky puck bunnies, so the Hawks are making strides. |

Hawks have their own issues. Top 6 are super talented but huge drop off after that. Besides who knows what shape Hossa will be in. If hes like perron we may not even see him this year. And Corey Crawford is still their starting goalie.

My comment from your last blog:
I hope the Blues sign him [Oshie] for 4-5 years, with a cap hit around 4.25 per year.
Ok, 5 years for 4.15 works. Thank goodness Armstrong reads your blogs and my comments and does what I want him to. |

This is a great signing. Especially considering all the other crazy $$$ going around. |

Agreed. I think Oshie and especially Perron are going to be producing at a much higher level then their compensation suggests for much of their contracts. |

I've known about this kid. There are aspects of his game that truly interest me. It's good to have depth for injuries and trades.
When you consider you place Schwartz down low and I take it assume McRae jumps over the others I take it. It looks like we have the extra pieces to move for a left handed dman and I still will remain scratching my head why we traded Nikithin for Russel. I also wonder why we didn't take a shot at signing Semin even if it is a virtual over payment for a season. To my mind there's nor isk other than money and any possible negative influence on the lockerroom but a great upside for potential. I think his play offs are vastly underrated. I also truly believe that when he was playing with Ovechkin he often wouldn't see the puck or have to constantly skate up the ice only for Ovechkin to turn the puck over and have to beat feet to get back on the defensive side. To me you have to have qualified information on Semin's lockerroom presence to not take a shot if you are St. Louis. Too many of our top six hve so far proven injury prone. Signing him for even a single season frees up the ability to trade a top six forward for a defenseman which would make it like signing a Dman after all. Don't forget the spaces that WILL need to open for some of this talent down low. |

Where's the huge drop off besides actually dressing Mayers and having a coach who would rather play Mayers than say Kane? They have a lot of young talent, not necessarily draw dropping but talent nonetheless.
It's also a strange assumption many have that having lost Suter the Predators are thin on the D line. Nothing is more laughable.
Columbus has a vastly improved team and scare me. Goaltending is their big problem and that's huge as is. To me Detroit is the worst team in the division at present. |
