Due to his cap hit and cost in return I say no to Marleau.
I was thinking Luongo and 2nd to hawks for Leddy-Kruger and Olesz |

Yep. But would they be willing to part with the young pieces SJ would want. Colbourne, Kulemin and a 1st? |

Ottawa should try and get Havlat back... He was a fan favourite here in Ottawa and would be again |

Done Burke needs to do something but instead of a first what about Kadri or D prospect |

Wouldn't even trade Kulemin for him. Actually...wouldn't trade any one of those pieces 1 for 1.
No thanks to a guy who got the C stripped from him and can't get it done in the playoffs. Leafs need a play maker...Marleau is not that. |

6.9mm cap hit for a guy who lost the captaincy and isn't a playmaker.
Leafs gonna put him with Kessel so they can both stand there and wait for a pass that isn't coming?
PS - Isn't this a Canucks blog? |

Vancouver is one of the few places I could actually see Marleau waiving to, although the media there would probably rape him |

Did I miss something....?
Were there trophies or awards or cups that he won that I'm not aware of?

You're funny.
The point is moot anyway, Marleau would likely never waive to go to the Leafs. |

So you think phaneuf is a better captin? And he is a #1C what the leafs need and he can pass |

No. I don't think he's ever wanted to play anywhere but SJ |

Nice, and there's the daily stab at the leafs as required.
So you believe that if the Leafs, a team who hasn't made the playoffs since before HD was available, is going to benefit from a 6.9mm cap hit and a player who comes from an EXTREMELY talented team that doesn't get it done when it matter most? And probably at the cost of a solid prospect and high draft pick? No thanks

If we're judging him on his 1.5 seasons as captain...no, I don't.
He's in the NHL, of course he can pass, but he's absolutely not a playmaker and that's what the Leafs need.
Anyway...this is a Canucks board, no need for Leafs talk. Will gladly continue this conversation in Augello's blog. |
