Over pay for Duby, way under pay for Petry, so it's a wash. What, you expected tamby to actually improve this team? For shame Richard, for shame...

Gagner's gunna want more than 3.5, i think he's gunna recieve 4mil as an everyday 2C, if Edmonton is commited to Gagner they have to pay him.

Great job getting Petry for a couple more years he could be a very good #2 Dman soon....I'm jealous

If Dubs starts 50-60 games or more and plays equal to or better than he did last year not an overpay at all.

Notice the terms folks. No one is getting more than 2 years at a time. Smart.

Still overpay. Rask is a comparable, better numbers and still earned the same. I would expect 3 million per based on numbers etc.

I think the Oilers were forced to add a bit more. We bought one year of UFA, and going to arbitration would have been for just one year and then UFA. But, at least it's a statement that Khabby is no longer the number one goalie. Hopefully, the team can trade him as he is pretty much done, but I suspect the team will keep him.

So this year is the same setup, but then when khabby goes, Roy will fill the backup, and the season after, Bunz, Roy and a resigned Duby will duke it out.

Personally, allowing gags to go to arbitration means the Oilers are not sure if Gags will be our 2nd line center. If they sign him for more than 2 years then it's a sign they believe in him. Still, he has had 6 years to prove himself, but he is still up in the air.

I like both deals. I think the Petry one is a steal. I feel Dubie got what he earned. He had very solid numbers with a suspect defence (barker) in front of him. I honestly think the oilers are close, but the minny signings hurt us alot

I dont really like the dollars myself as Ive said. Im a Dubnyk fan but he's still pretty unproven. 50 games was kind of a minimum number in any case. Anything 60+ would be very good. 70+ would be fantastic but that's not realistic and I think Khabi will function well as a backup for this season.

Don't like the Dubnyk signing about 1 mill too much and not sure if I like the Petry signing. I think we should have tried to get longer term even if it meant we had to pay alot more. 6 years at 3.5-4 million would have been better imho.

Clouts you keep talking about all the moves all the other western conference teams have made. Please tell us oh wise one. Who besides Min, Cgy, Van, and Dal, have made significant moves??? And i am being generous when i say CGY made significant moves considering what they gave up. you always say "this team did this so that must mean tambelloni didnt do anything". But how do you know that every player who signs with a team other than the oilers is because tambellini didnt make a move as you have suggested since you became the blogger????

If Duby is Scooby, does that mean Tambi is Shaggy? Seems appropriate.

I'd like to see Klefbom stay in the NHL. Even if it's only 10-15 minuted per game to start off with. It gives us a few extra defencemen to work with. However, we are starting to get a bit of log jam on the back end. This would be the perfect opportunity to package up Peckam with Hemsky to bring in a solid left winger to play on the top two lines with the kids. I'm not a fan of moving a RW to the left side if there are other options available.

While MPS/Harti need a chance to play, I don't think they are ready for top 6 minutes.

Not a bad deal for Dubnyk, really. He better than average stats on a team not exactly known for their defensive prowess.

Good move, I think.

Honestly, if Gagner gets more than Duchene's term 2YR $7M, that is insane and ridiculous, I honestly don't see it happening. I say $2.75M-$3.2M maximum.

3 - 3.5 is more than fair. I wonder which side has forced the arbitration issue.

EDIT: A 3.275 contract is a 1 mil raise. He has shown promise for the future but has not broken through yet.

Yes, but the player is the one that has to file if I am not mistaken. But what I am wondering, and no one here will really be able to corroborate, is whether it was the team lowballing, or Gags highballing in the negotiation.

i.e.

Team offered 3.275 he wants 4+

or

Team offered 2.275 again and he wants 3.275.

Agreed. I say he walks away with 3.5 though.

Hey, team 1260 said there was some rumour this morning about Phaneuf to Edmonton trade? Anyone hear it?

Do you think he is worth 3.5? I am actually asking not being a D. I am from London where he played junior, never was a fan. If he gets 3.5, what does Hall & Eberle get next year?

I'm hoping the goalie coach saw something in him to justify the money, otherwise we're screwed
