First off Dan, FINALLY YOU BLOG AGAIN!!!! Jeez! Also, I hear that Raymond would be coming back in a Luongo trade any way. I'm so tired of talking about the trade scenario's though, too be honest.
Love the addition of Parros. Love Kuba. Since Huberdeau cannot be sent to the AHL, and has nothing to prove in the Juniors, he will be in the NHL next season. I cannot wait. Howden I think starts the year in the AHL. But he will be the first injury call up. Bjugstad, is a 50/50 split. If he doesn't go back to school, I think he starts in the AHL but he has a decent shot of making the roster out of camp.
I really hope we aren't done making moves yet. Even with Huberdeau, if this roster stands pat we don't make the playoffs next season. I understand we have a "blueprint" to follow, but if we do not make the playoffs next season there is going to be a large drop off in the fan base. Should all be fun. Also, Dan, I'm thinking upper management has some concerns about Markstrom. Do you get these feelings as well? |

Yeah, a nice contract like Upshall or Kopecky. Maybe a pick. Not a prospect worth mentioning. |

Hey buddy. Just got back from vacation. Tallon has said as many as 3 youngsters will make the team. Gotta think those are the three. I'm sure we're not done making moves. Wouldn't be surprised to see a trade or two. I do feel there are concerns about Markstrom, and that is my biggest worry at this point. Hate for him to be groomed all this time for another NHL team... |

Definitely won't be a grade A prospect coming back but I would wager a decent prospect.
Time will tell. |

I saw Bjugstad the other day, and my God is he big. This kid has a hell of a shot. Markstrom just isn't playing the way we all think he can. I think Tallon has hopes for Brittain. He invited some good goaltenders to rookie camp as well; Makarov and Houser. Houser is a solid contender to be signed for San Antonio. He's young, big, and is throwing up some solid numbers. Teams around us are getting better... we need to follow suit. |

Kulikov and Versteeg will both be signed soon. I am hearing that we are picking up a UFA, very experienced center to play with Huberdeau (or that it already is done??). I think either Howden or Shore (probably Howden) will start with the Cats rather than the AHL. After that, the UFA market is awfully slim. I do not want Semin and think he'd be in the Dineen dog-house more than Wolski was. After that we'd have to look trades. The trade chip that stands out right now with the signing of Kuba is Ellerby. I know Santos wants one of the young forwards in the Nashville system, and they are down a d-man, are you hearing anything on that front Dan?
Hope we do not make a deal for Luongo, but these Markstrom concerns on the blogs may be real. Gillis is truly kidding himself if he thinks he will get much in return after we signed Clemmer, its a buyers market for Lu at the moment. |

He is having some huge school troubles right now, so he is not down in Florida at rookie camp. |

The list of possible destinations is limited and if there is no bargaining war then you may have to give him to a team simply willing to take that contract. He can't return to Vancouver so there is little leverage, unfortunately, for you guys. |

I think Tallon is maybe looking at Arnott. Would be a great move, especially with Huby being here next season. I am not object to Howden starting here next season, but he needs to get his act together. Although he has adult physical strength, he doesn't seem to think with an adult brain at all times; infections? I really like Markstrom. I was hoping he would be our back up this season. I really was. I was also hoping that if we DID rade for Luongo/Raymond, that Theo would go the other way and he could back up Luongo. Then we re-signed Clem and I'm now totally I have no idea what's happening. Either way, Huberdeau and Howden can each score at least 20. One or two more pieces makes us a contender.
As for Ellerby, I think he benefits from a change. He has all the pieces, he just needs to put them together. We'll have to wait and see what happens, and I hate that part |

Interesting. Yeah, I see he only played 4 games with N. Dakota. I certainly wouldn't mind having him in the Canucks' system, but he doesn't really fit their recent trend of drafting/trading for big prospects.
Like I said, seems to fit Montreal's philosophy, though (yes, it's a joke about Montreal's forwards size. Those are still funny, right?) |

You guys will love Parros. Great stand-up guy with character you can't say enough about - on and off the ice. Not too many goons will hold back from landing a monstrous punch to someone who put themselves in a bad position in a fight, but I've not only seen him show restraint, but actually catch a guy in a fight that was about to fall flat on his face.
I was pretty bummed to hear he wasn't being re-signed. |

I honestly think Gillis has probably received a few decent offers from both TO and FLA, but his price is just ridiculously high. |

I am hearing it is really high. It'll get done.. and hopefully sooner rather than later. This isn't something you want dragging on closer to the season. |
