I loved the Rupert pick. Watching the knights I've seen how this kid is to play against. He doesn't have big size but he's as tenacious as they come.

would have liked to see Burke dump MacArthur (as he stated he could if he wanted) for a low first/high second as there was still a ton of talent to be had.
a bit surprised by rielly, but have no problem whatsoever with the mentality of taking the player with the highest ceiling.

Agreed on MacArthur. I think they need to surgically open a hole for Kadri to play with someone like Grabovski ( and now JVR as well). Would put him in a position to succeed playing with other skilled guys.

And then you grab a future asset with the pick, and open up more cap space.

Win-win.

Still could do that, Burke should be trying to acquire some more last 1st, 2nds in the 2013 draft. Hopefully we can move out Mac, connolly, Komisarek for anything. There are a lot of teams below the cap floor still

Edit...just took a look... 16 or so team below the floor still?

I've said it before, but I bet Connolly is an option for a team who would rather a year of "meh" rather than overpaying for 4-5 years of the same "meh" that's on the UFA block.

But they're stuck with Komisarek for at least another year.

I'd assume there has to be a market for Macarthur. I think he's a player and could slide into a lot of teams top 6. Hell, even the Sens could use him in their top 6.

I just can't see there being much of a market for the other two. Connolly seems to just get paid to watch games and Komisarek's decline continues. Perhaps in a certain type of system, he'd be able to work well as a 5/6 defenseman, but you're paying a lot of cash out for that type of player and I'd rather snag a salary dump from elsewhere that at least can specialize in something.

I've gone through line-up combos and I just don't see a spot for MacArthur, Lombardi or Connolly. They are all far too soft.

It went well. Went to London with Liz, and lounged. Saw Ted. Had some drinks with good people.

The usual.

You?

I have no idea how they are gonna part ways with connolly or komisarek, but macarthur should garner some interest.

Forgot Lombardi ....

I could see a team trading for Komisarek... some teams are way below the cap floor

Have to think Mac's moved, Connolly dumped in a soft deal (I hope), and Lombardi is waived to Ricoh. Can't see any of them on the starting roster.

The only thing that might entice a team for Komi is he makes less than the cap hit.

Why the F. did he have to become so useless... pray that Carlyle can get more use out of him and make him look somewhat valuable

I don't see Kadri working on Carlyle's 3rd line... probably would be swapped with Kulemin.

But yea, given what we currently have, that would be the ideal line-up.

Komarov will probably give Ashton a run for his money- they seem to really like him.

I'm pretty sure Lombardi uninsurable, at least he was when the leafs got him.
That will make him hard to trade.

I had a terrible time mostly, got suckered into roofing my brother-in-law's house for most of the weekend. That was disgusting, then I had to baby sit probably the most active kid in the world for a day.

End of the day a buddy and me got drunk and played pool till 2am and walked about 10km around Peterborough trying to find our hotel haha so all is well.

When I was younger I was pretty against it. Grew up in a pretty conservative family and what not.

Having spent a lot of time with Liz's family, I drink a lot... they like alcohol.

Crazy how it happens.

kadri with jvr? yikes, thats some serious defense deficiency.
kulemin levels out jvr's lack of defensive awareness and mcclement should be able to cover for kadri's.
i think kadri needs to play with the most responsible centreman available, and from all accounts that guy is supposed to be mcclement. I think Kadri would get more minutes by being on the 2nd pp unit.

Music to my ears... no idea if its true or not ... probably not

But lose his 4.75, sign Kuli and Franson and we are still around the same cap total.

Ashton is supposed to have some offensive upside... Komorov has none. I would rather Ashton.
