My best guess is that suter and Parise will be Pens at the end of the day because Paul Martin won't be

I know we dont know real numbers yet, but pens offer 80-90 mil, flyers reportedly 90-100 mil. Is it worth 10 mil to play with crosby over G? Christ is it worth 1 million? I hope money talks in this scenario.

Pens are going to sign both. To deals rumored for over 100M. After just signing Crosby to a deal worth over 100M?

How on earth are they going to do that with two $8.7 mill contracts on their roster already?

I am told the Preds put forth an offer beyond what anyone would have expected and it has Suter thinking very hard about his decision.

Is Nashville a sleeper to sign both Suter and Parise and in turn get Weber to re-sign as well?

Would rather still have Bobrovsky, but...

At least they found a guy who I have some faith that could play well if Bryz were to suffer an untimely, long-term injury.

It gets to a point where out of the respect of the player you need to allow them to move on to another team. You can't just swallow up a young goalies career and future having him back up a goalie you have signed for a decade.

What does that have to do with their cap hits?

The suspense is killing me.

And great write up Bill.

According to Ek, the Preds might be shopping Weber instead of losing him

Bill do you think and would the Flyers consider Ek's hypothetical trade: Coburn, Read, Voracek and 2 1st's?

I agree that they end up with Pissburgh....But I see the flyers trading for Ryan if that happens, which is fine by me

Why is that funny? Leighton has proven he can play in the NHL. He was an All Star in the AHL last Season.

Everyone is basing their opinions of Leighton off of their bitter taste about losing in the Cup. Leighton is absolutely a serviceable backup goalie. Absolutely no issues with him being Bryz's backup.

I hope this is true. This would help free up Weber for us to get him.

If they sign Suter and Parise, Weber will immediately be signed as well. That would give him every reason to re-sign with them.

They have over $30 million in cap space.

I was really surprised that the Islanders sign Brad Boyes for 1 year at $1 million. I was thinking about him as an option to play with Giroux and I would have loved him with a deal like that. He's a former 40 goal scorer so we know he has the touch. He's a head case with confidence issues though.

Love Weber, but I wouldn't pay the ransom that Nashville wants for him.

If he gets to unrestricted free agency next year, then go for him. Otherwise, let someone else overpay.

It's not about cap space, it's about budget. Not all teams can get to the cap ceiling. Nashville is a small market and they can't afford to be bogged down with 4 giant contracts (Rinne, Suter, Parise, Weber).
