Ray Shero strikes again! Just kidding! Crosby knows his worth in Pittsburgh and he knows that he has a lot of endorsements as well. He will always have a place with the Penguins. The money is just a slight amount more than what he already was making and it allows the Penguins to take care of other areas. Extremely team friendly deal. Good work on both sides to focus on winning. As long as the league approves that is just what they will do.

Is it really a good deal? It is a risky deal, as soft as Crosby is, if he gets one shot to the head, he is finished.

Oh stop it! He got hit hard quite a few times in the playoffs and gave it right back. He has the same risk as any other player. If they didn't lock him up, Brian Burke would've been (and smartly) one of the first to call him and pry him out of Pittsburgh. Yes, it's a great deal. If you don't agree you are nuts. They are all one hit away from being bound to a wheelchair or worse, so that is a ridiculous argument. Crosby is also training and is feeling 'great'

And if he doesn't the contract will look like a huge bargain. Anyone can get injured, and the cap hit isn't as crippling as if it were league max.

Someone is jealous.....

Everyone is soft when you take a shot to the head. Anyone could lose their career over that

Like all of these deals. Like to see how rask handles being the true number 1.

Why is it so risky other than to the owner? If he retires, there is no cap penalty. To the owner he has his contract heavily insured... your statement is a bunch of BS... every team would give Crosby the same money and more. Its a good deal because he is the best player on and off the ice.

Thats a good one. That may be the only understandable reason why Chiarelli didn't commit to him yet for more than 1 year. I would have, but its really a different deal handling the workload with a bit more on it. Who are they gonna back him up with?

Just how so? They both get 7 per for 7 years. Quick just gets 3 more years on his? I'd rather have a goalie only commited for 7 years compared to 10. I don't get how it's "laughable" at all. Please explain.
