...and I know this is a pipe dream. Believe it or not I actually follow you guys pretty well... I know a couple people in your minor system.

Anyway, if you don't re-sign Suter I'd love to see you guys take a run at Doan or Parise.

I could only imagine the effect a guy like Doan could have on your team. You'd have Weber showing the way on D and Doan showing the FW's what it takes.

Parise I think would fit your system ridiculously well but I just don't see the cash needed for him...

Doan tho...

SlapShot Radio has circled the date... February 9th at the Verizon Center in DC for our next SlapShot Radio Road Trip... we are working out details and will forward as we get them. Keep an eye on the SlapShot Radio page on Facebook for details.

Look into group rates on the airlines too rather than just defaulting to a bus ride. I rode buses for several years when I was young and don't care to do that again, but a discounted plane trip with a free hotel shuttle would be solid.

Who is Justin Schultz and why should I care??? OK, he is a decent prospect, a second rounder from 2008, done OK in college hockey, but does he really deserve this kind of attention? If this keeps up I am sure we will see him with Jim Grey on NBC Sports Network announcing his decision.

I'm glad you said that. I thought I was the only one annoyed by this whole process. Teams should be able to retain the rights to players for a much longer period of time. What's to prevent future prospects from deciding that they don't want to play on the team that selected them, and repeat this process where they get to pick and choose their destination. It's not fair to the team that drafted the prospect at all.

Suter schmooter. Preds should trade for Bouwmeester. He should come at a reasonable price seeing as how his stock has dropped in Calgary.

The mantra from ownership going into this offseason is that they are going to spend close to the cap. If that is the case, the Preds could afford Parise. The thing is, talk is cheap. I am on the 'dubious' side of all of this. We shall see what happens here starting 7/1.

Spending is nice, however, the players would still have to want to come here. If we're offering Suter as much money as anyone else, and he still doesn't want to be here, then what message does that send to other FA's?

Not saying that Suter does or does not want to be here, just making a point.....

I'm skeptical. They've said twice before that they were going to spend more than ever. It never really happened last year. The time before that it all went to Erat and Legwand's contracts. No my idea of a great spending spree.

The cure to our scoring woes just hit the market: Mike Santorelli has been released by the Panthers.

I'm trying to guage Quick's new 10-yr x $58m extension that follows his 1.7m salary for the upcoming season. Seems to be reasonable.

Or how about Crosby, loyal to Pittsburg fans and his team. The only way that ends up badly is if injuries continue.

But some other deals are going to be ridiculous I think, like Wideman's. Still can't understand the talk of a potential $10+ million per being offered for Suter. (Repeated again by Stu yesterday on Paul's show.)

Somewhat echoing musings from Paul-Pete-Stu-Tom, but if the Suter/Parise, etc sweepstakes (not to mention the Schults clown-show) get crazy (which I think they are going to do) maybe that's ok. Time to move on and get back to the Predator way. Smart moves, hard work, perseverance, dedication to the game, and so on.
