"Does the Flames signing of Dennis Wideman to a 5 year/$26.25mil deal spell the end for Jay Bouwmeester in Calgary?" One would hope it spells the end for Jay Feaster in Calgary... |

Richard Cloutier: 10 Oily Questions - Maxbone
Just so I'm clear...haven't posted on HB for a while:
1) Commenter's can't insult/name call other Commenter's
2) Commenter's can't insult/name call Blogger's
3) Blogger's have free reign to insult/name call:
a. Commenter's
b. Other Blogger's?
c. GM's of rival hockey teams when they overpay players
Just want to avoid potential bans... |

How the (frank) does this clown still have a job?
I am confident that there are NUMEROUS posters on HB that could run that team better than Feaster!
Stupid trades (See Cammalleri)
Stupid drafting (See Jankowski)
Stupid FA signings (See Wideman)
Stupid decisions (Not dealing Iggy and Kipper to rebuild)
This is actually quite sad to watch, and that's pretty (frank)in' sad coming from a Leafs fan! |

I could see Schultz signing somewhere other than EDM. I feel like he has a bit of arrogance because of all the hype surrounding him this past little while. He's got serious potential, but I won't be surprised if he decides to go to VAN because they are a playoff team guaranteed, and he'll maybe overlook how he won't play a leading role because of it. Obviously Edmonton is ideal for him in the sense that he'll get big minutes and grow on a team with a ton of young talent, but we aren't an annual playoff team yet.
He might overlook Edmonton for the glamor of a team like the Canucks who make it to the post season every year, and will do so for years to come. He just needs to look past it and realize what he could have in Edmonton for years to come. |

lol Laraque! I'm sure he's a great guy but let's face it, playing hockey is not one of his "strengths", fighting or not fighting. As for Schultz...Edmonton sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. Not trying to troll, just saying he would have to face tons of pressure playing in Edmonton as I feel expectations would be just too lofty. Please correct me if you disagree. In saying that, I also feel him signing in Toronto would also be a recipe for disaster if he's expecting to play in the top 4 from the get go. To me it doesn't sound like Schultz is very high on the IQ side of things. My prediction for Schultz: bust. |

Richard Cloutier: 10 Oily Questions - Maxbone
Congrats on getting married, dude!
1. He's the one who says he loves visiting the city of Edmonton. He's not conventional.
2. Carle sounds great, but I don't know if Schultz helps lure him.
3. Whatever it is, it shouldn't be that hack Jason Garrison.
4. Hmmm. That's some rumour mongering I can get behind!
5. He's some kind of reverse-Lindros, that wants to play in a high-profile Canadian Market.
6. I'd give him a chance. Really good stats in terms of Krueger letting the kids play. On the other hand, if he coached speical teams, that he stood idly by while Belanger soaked up the PP time.
7. Hopefully. Because that's a (frank)ing ass-backwards move that could benefit us.
8. No.
9. 6.5 million.
10. I bet it moreso hints at his desire to see his buddy Daniil Zharkov avoid the Omark treatment. |

I think Zharkov is going to be good for this team down the road |

Dale the Wombat @wombathockey
Teams supposedly interested in Jbo are @NHL_Oilers, @SanJoseSharks, and @TBLightning, among a possible 4 others.
However, with the signing of Wideman, Flames now have almost 12 million dollars locked up between the two.

So @NHLFlames dman Jay Bouwmeester has been in several rumors recently, I questioned the validity of some of them though. |

Contracts will keep inflating if the cap keeps inflating.
5 years ago a player like Grabo doesnt come anywhere near 5.5 mil. |

I really hope the new CBA does something about that, I would find it really funny if cap and players salaries went down right before we had to resign our kids and so we got to on the cheap |
