Jeff Quirin: Blues Sign Head Coach Ken Hitchcock to Extension The St. Louis Blues have signed head coach Ken Hitchcock to a one year contract extension through the 2013-14 season with a mutual option for 2014-15.

The decision to extend his contract was obvious. Every coach has an expiration date with their players but it should be good for the team if he can stick around another 2-3 years.

Yes, this feels different than when Murray received his extension. Probably because this team is much better and much more ready to succeed than the team when Murray was the coach.

Smart move by the Blues. They really should extend Armstrong as well and get him locked up for several more years as he has been nothing but great for this team and we owe a lot of the success we are having to him.

Hitchcock coaches another couple of years before giving way to Al MacInnis. That's my prediction........and Big Al will be a great successor.

It's so boring when 1/2 of your roster has double digit goals (no other team this year had that going for them, but I'm sure you already knew that), can roll three good scoring lines, & skate circles around other teams. It's pretty boring when your coach, GM, & goalies win awards & your captain comes in 2nd for Selke. I'm so jealous of Colorado's playoff run and all of the trophies that team won this year.
