Only you would be more entertained with a boring draft than the NHL Finals.
Next thing. Anaheim trading Lubo. It wasn't as bad as you want to make it out to be. At least not for the reason you're suggesting. Lubo is a UFA next year, so getting a second rounder for him isn't that bad. The real reason why it is bad is because he was the perfect person to mentor their young D for another year. That's why the trade was bad.
As far as the Penguins go, they stole that trade easily, I guess you're saying otherwise for the shock value. |

See, I'm not a Kings fan.
And for the Oilers, the draft IS the Stanley Cup Finals. |

Was there a different draft I wasn't aware of? Because the one I watched showed the Penguins giving away Jordan Staal. One of the Top 10 centers in the NHL, if you believe people who comment on my blogs. |

Yawnn and here comes the pittsburgh hate again... kinda embarrassing
U'd think there would be more interestng teams for an oilers blogger to talk about.
Us clearing 7 million = parise or sutter |

Don't forget Dalton Thrower as well.
Think they will go with Finn or Thrower, depending on who CBJ takes.
Wouldn't be surprised if tambi comes out from his deep slumber and actually moves a couple players. Omark maybe for loose change. My surprise player to be traded is MP, I picked Gilbert before it happened, and Magnus is the only prospect we have that has value and yet will have problems making the team.
I expect the Oil will try for another 2nd rounder as well, too many decent players still available.
BTW, Feaster really is a idiot. I almost feel sorry for Flames fans. |

Actually I think they dealt Staal because he wanted out. Didn't they offer him 10 years at $6mil per not to leave?
If they sign Parise and/or Suter, good on them. They'll be a line down the block for both players. All 30 teams are gonna make offers on both. |

Oscar Dansk... Final answer! We're top heavy on skilled forwards, and deep on D prospects. We only have 2 "ok" prospects in goal, so stealing a quality tender makes a ton of sense |

What I find odd is, parise said "not a chance" to the rangers, but will play for another division rival in the pens? |

Actually, Carolina is the team that got hosed. Everyone knew Staal was going there next summer, so they essentially traded Brandon Sutter (who scored 17 goals without a lot of PP time and is great defensively while signed for only $2M per year), one of their better D prospects, and an 8th overall pick for one year of Jordan Staal. And if Staal ever actually left after this one year?? Carolina is now in a position of having to give Staal everything he wants because after giving up such a package, they can't not sign him now. I think Carolina got destroyed. |

Rangers-Devils is a rivalry; Devils-Penguins isn't. It wasn't about the Rangers being in the division; it was about a star player pulling a Johnny Damon and going to the team's rival. |

Interesting perspective. They certainly paid a price for Staal. |

Oilers GM wasn't sleeping. He was just not able to acquire another first round pick. Montréal GM Bergevin confirmed that he made few call phone to acquire another first round pick to select Teravainen but wasn't able to do so. Team where all asking for a first round pick + second round pick. 33rd is almost a first round pick... but didn't work.
But this was the 2012 draft. 30 teams, 30 completely diffrents list. In a interview with (I think I'it NJ scooting member at 98.5FM Montréal) they ask who was the player who was going to surprise everyone, he say without hesitation Hampus Lindholm.
I think that why every team prefered to keep their first pick because everyone was able to select a top 5 guy on their list...
Timmins confirmed that Teravainen was second on their list, he can't believe Teravainen was selected #18.
Yakupov, good pick. The best option is always to select the best player available. Get D and G with trade.

I don't think Brian Dumoulin is a throw-in at all, fwiw.
He's got a legitimate shot at being a star in the NHL. |

I want Dansk or Frk at 32. I just really wanna buy a jersey with the last name having all consonants, although with me now having to buy a Yakupov jersey that's gonna get costly..... |

Crosby
Malkin
Stamkos
Kopitar
Datsyuk
Tavares
E. Staal
Backstrom
H. Sedin
Toews
Getzlaf
Spezza
Bergeron
Off the top of my head, I would take all these centers before taking Jordan Staal. His career high in points is 50. You overrate this guy so much. He's a really good player, but he's not elite. |

Did anyone watch that awkward segment on TSN where Cabbie got Yakupov to call Gagner?
Yakupov: Hi Sam, this is Nail
Gagner: Yeah?
Yakupov: Are you excited?
Gagner: Yeah!
Yakupov: Thank you (awkward laughter)
End of their phone conversation.
Pretty sure Gagner was rubbin one out when they called him. |
