I like Lindback a lot. I thought he was the most intriguing backup in the league the last two years. But, TBs defense is a disaster so he might struggle his first year there.

Also, Engren went back to Finland. No room for him in the organization in North America...at least not now.

Lindback was a great get for TB. Will miss him, but excited he has the chance to start elsewhere.

Josh Cooper last week reported last week that the Preds have had talks with Goose's agent and that they want to re-sign him, however everything is on hold until Suter makes a decision. Poile won't know how much money he has to spend until they know if Suter is going to re-sign, hopefully Suter decides soon after July 1st so we don't miss out on anyone, but especially Goose.

I'm not big on the prospect scene, but is this the year we see Taylor Beck in Nashville?

This right here is the reason I don't want Suter back. He has earned the right to be able to choose where he plays but he shouldn't be holding us back from signing other players. If Suter doesn't resign I hope we trade Weber to an Eastern Conference team and get the max return for him. No sense in keeping players around that don't want to be here or that think the future isn't bright in Nashville.

While I want Ryan Suter back you can't blame a guy for trying to make as much money as he can.
Look at what has happened to past players... Scott Hartnell , Jerrod Smithson etc..
Management is not afraid of acting in the same capacity

I agree..I to want Suter back, and hold no ill feelings towards the guy. This is a business and its us fans that sometimes take these things personally. I don't think that its a much Suter doesn't want to be here but that he wants to make the best decision for him and his family. For Suter this is a one time thing, he will only hit FA in his prime once so you can't blame the guy for wanting to gather as much information as possible before making a decision. In the end I think Suter listens to other teams, gets the info he is looking for and then comes back around to the Preds. Again, it is hard as a fan to realize but this is a business and frankly as you said teams have no problem trading a guy for the benefit of the team/organization.

On a side note what does everyone think of what EK just posted that many people believe Poile is trying to re-sign Weber first and use that as a selling point to Suter. EK mentioned that Poile said "We hope the prospect of playing the rest of his career alongside Shea Weber is something Ryan finds appealing." That is a very interesting thought, but he may be reading to much into that.

So, can the Preds have their cake and eat it, too? Can they afford both Weber and Suter? If Philly offered 2 firsts + JVR + Simmonds or Voracek for Weber does that get it done? It still leaves room to resign Suter without a home town discount and replenish the cupboard.

This^^^^ is still not sweet enough to get Weber...but I'll take one of your firsts for Suter's negotiating rights before July 1st..

Poile, will screw around only to watch Suter sign with another team and not get anything for him. Poile should make his final/best offer to him and if it isn't acceptable, I'd trade him at the draft for ANYTHING I could get. I would not wussyfoot around with this if I was DP...

Poile has stated that he will not do that and the rationale is sound I think. For one thing, Suter has now made it 100% clear that he will not sign with any team until after free agency starts. What kind of draft pick do you think a team would give for the right to try and sign him prior to July 1st considering that fact? Maybe one 7th rounder, if that?

PS: If Poile did that there would be zero chance of Suter returning and I for one definitely want him to remain a Pred so I don't want to see Poile piss Suter off over pettiness.

Agreed. If there is even a 20% chance Suter resigns after 7/1, then I would not trade his rights for a 6th or 7th round pick. If you could get a 1st, then that would be totally different. However, as Blueline already stated, no one will pay that since everyone knows Suter will not sign anywhere before FA starts.

You missed the point, I'm sure Poile has a figure/term that he can live with comfortably for re-signing him. Pitch your best offer, if he doesn't accept, then eff'em. Why play games and drag it out?? That's why I put 'ANYTHING' in all caps even if it is just a 7th rounder (Zetterberg, Erat, Horny). I don't want to lose either Weber or Suter, but I'd be d@mned if I let either of those two hijack my team.

Based on what I just read from Andy Strickland, I think it's highly probable.

It's about halfway down.

Unfortunately, I see a problem with this approach. I think Weber's waiting to see what Suter does before he commits.

That's a take it or leave it scenario which is fine in many cases similar to this one. However, it's not what Poile wants to do in this situation - that's his choice and his decison to make. I happen to agree given the fact that it's Suter we're talking about and that the options are minimal.

I think it is our only chance to keep Ryan here no matter how slim that chance may be. And if Suter stays, then we will have a better chance of keeping Weber and landing a top six forward. I know it's a long shot but it's one that might work out nevertheless. I'm hoping.

Definitely think that it is a big part of what Poile is trying to do. It smacks of desperation but maybe it all works out. He is attacking from every angle possible.

Which, of course, is what UFA status is all about. That's the way it is - players mostly have the last word when they are unrestricted fa's.

Holmgrem got burned with Hamhuis doing that. Certainly wont pay a first founder for it. And he covets Weber not Suter. So...how bout JVR+ VORACEK+SCHENN OR COUTOURIER + a 1st? But it may limit your ability against the cap.

I think Poile is trying to set the bar for Suter if he can pull this off. We all know that Weber will get more $$$ if and when the bidding starts. So if you can get Webs to sign for around 8m or so, it may keep the Preds from being outbid for Suter. I'm sure Weber is smarter than that though.
