Peter Tessier: The Nonsense from RDS & Evander Kane More talk about Kane yet no one is talking unless you believe RDS.

This is the way the game has been played for a long time. Stories do not show up by accident. Just listen for the sounds coming from the Kane camp. If you get a vigorous denial before the close of business tomorrow, it might be a false story. If you get a tepid denial the story is substantially true. If you get no comment from his camp, he wants out ASAP.

I'm no fan of Lavoie (I find him obsequious, among other things that grate) but I would not label him an irrelevant RDS employee. How he has managed to become an important cog at RDS is baffling to me, but there is no denying he has some pull at the network.

As for Kane, the Jets would be foolish to give up on him but if they were to do so, I'd love to see him end up with the Habs.

I am not sure it is about being happy. It appears the kid may have made some questionable choices, he has been called on them, probably not capital offences, but enough to cause acute embarrassment. We will know soon enough if it is even a real issue. If he has to be moved Winnipeg will get top value for him and I expect the team will adapt fairly easily.

Two parts to this answer- is he happy on the team- I think so. Would he rather be in a different city if he had the choice? I think so- but he has years to enjoy life away from Winnipeg and off season too. He needs some perspective and I think that will come.

if this is the case, I would love to see an offer with Pleks heading to Winnipeg for Kane
I wonder if something along the lines of Pleks + Kristo + Weber/2nd for Kane would get it done. That would get the rebuild in full swing and gives Winny a 1B/2A center who is strong defensively.

Are you really calling RDS out on reporting news that may be false, yet you blog on Hockeybuzz....

is skin this thin in Winnipeg? what does any of this have to do with RDS? Lavoie is speculating based on what he heard from a player. i don't understand what he's doing wrong or how this reflects poorly on RDS. as for Kane, who knows. i know this is not going to come off well but whatever. i'm thrilled that Winnipeg is back in the NHL. i think every Canadian is. but i think that Winnipeg fans have to understand the current landscape of the NHL and accept the fact that in-demand players are not going to want to go to or stay in Winnipeg unless the team is a bonafide Cup contender. this might be the situation with Kane.

Plekanec has value but not enough to be the centrepiece of a Kane deal. Weber is awful. Kristo... well there isn't going to be much interest in a guy who just has no interest in getting his pro career started. if Montreal wants Kane (and this is coming from a Montreal fan), we're talking about giving up players like Subban, Pacioretty, Desharnais, etc. Winnipeg will want an immediate replacement for Kane.

Okay let's put this in perspective, if a media member who follows the Leafs tweeted that a player on the leafs told him Kessel did not want to sign there would be a full blow inquisition.

First off, what player would do that?

Second, who would say a 'team mate' told him?

Third who would actually tweet it out with no context or effort to investigate?

Sloppy, poor choice, and totally unprofessional.

Desharnais? I find Pleks is worth way more than him. Still managed to put up 50+ points playing with guys like Moen, Darche and Bourque and Gionta who were terrible last season and is very strong defensively unlike DD and Kristo seems to be one of our better forward prospects. You got a point about Weber though...what was i thinking

Gionta played 30 games last year, half of them injured. Plek really had no help, the Habs lack of depth up front was very obvious again last season.

Renaud Lavoie has broken more things than you would ever dream of.

I'll trust someone who's getting paid to break things, before an unknown blogger who pretends to have inside source on the team he covers.

I'm sorry but no RDS nor Mr. Lavoie aren't irrelevant.

Guys from Sportnet have said ten times more foolish things that didn't happen than Renaud.

I think a Plek vs Kane trade straight would be doable, even if I wouldn't do it personally.

Dude, my reading of it is that he wanted to say something was brewing up in the 'Peg, and wanted to have the scoop.

He rarely reports something without backing it up, and he's rarely speculating.

If kane gets traded its to the highest bidder not for a bunch of spare parts from Montreal.

Secondly if he hates it in Winnipeg he's going to hate Montreal a thousand times more you have the language issue worse media and cold weather as well not much difference in weather conditions.

Why would he hate it in Montréal?

The language issue was issued, with the summer hirings. The weather is much more clement here, and it's not to be mean but Montréal is one of the nicest city in North America, while Winnipeg is hardly a traveling choice.

None!!!!! Okay haha!

It has everything to do with RDS as he is an employee with a twitter account saying as much. What other reason would he have to Tweet about Kane or the Jets let alone all the followers?
