I would like to have Stafford over Roy in that deal, and I assume they would offer up the Nashville first rounder at 21.
But if they offered us Roy, Stafford, and the 21st overall pick Tom Wilson, Brendan Gaunce) That is almost too good of an offer to refuse. |

Terrible idea to even acknowledge this proposal.
Avs take back ANOTHER small forward? The only two forwards who aren't pussies in the top 6 are Landy and Radar. The Avs desperately need size with offensive ability, similar to Chris Stewart, again. |
|
|
|
at the #12 spot you go after someone better than tom wilson. not saying he will be bad, but theres a question mark whether he can turn out like lucic or just another big 4th liner that gets tossed from team to team every other year.
and that deal looks good for both teams. imagine if the avs can get parise.
roy-duchene-parise...thats a scary good line. |

How does Roy factor into all of this? |

well the avs would have to take on some cap from the sabres, and roy in colorado could be a nice change for him. roy is only signed for one more year as well, so its not like hes there for another 5 years. if he doesnt do well then dont resign, if he does then possibly resign him. getting a good D man as well |

Scraps and a 1st for Stastny, I'd pass. Sekera, Ennis, and a first for Stastny...maybe. |

What would make you think Col would be on Parise's radar. This is the first time I ever heard his name linked to Col. Parise will not end up in our division. Why would he? |

There been a few mentions of Colorado and big free agents signings bc we have the cap space for guys like Parise and Suter to break the bank. I dont see it happening either but thats all that has been mentioned about big names coming to our side |

I wouldn't classify Sekera as a stay at home dman by any stretch of the imagination. He's actually quite adept at carrying and rushing the puck up, he's much more of an offensive dman. He did start to lay the lumber on guys coming down his wall late last year, but not particularly wonderful in front of the net. The problem with Sekera is it's stretches of fantastic play followed by stretches of abysmal play. He can't seem to find the same kind of consistency that he plays with in international competition. Peaks and valleys with him. |

wadr...
sekera is not a "stay at home" defenseman...he is a "puck mover/offensive" d-man, one of the few sabres defenseman over the last couple of season who can get the puck out of the zone under pressure, albeit somewhat inconsistently...he can also log a bunch of minutes...
if a team needs to increase their cap-hit ($2.75m) while paying less salary, sekera will get a bonus on july 1...the remaining salaries for the next three seasons will be $1.5m, $1.75m, $1.75m...which would be a bargain |

How about a straight up Phaneuf for Stastny? Both 27 this year, both make have a cap hit of 6.5/6.6 million. Both in the top 10-15 stars at their positions. Both have leadership skills but aren't necessary leaders. Both contracts end after the 2013-2014 season.
Or Schenn for Duchene. 21/22 year olds with a ton of potential but could use new starts.
I would do both. If the Leafs are confident about Schultz, Franson and Holzer, it would be smart to trade Phaneuf at peak contractual value, and it's okay to trade Luke if you're getting Duchene.
Maybe Matt Carle (although free agency could run his price up to 4.5-5M) should Burke explore that option, or moving down in the draft and grabbing Trouba to solve any defensive depth issues. |

...I would say less available today than at the beginning of last season. He really took off on a line with Ennis and Foligno. I can't imagine that with how well that line played to finish the season that they'd want to break it up.

Col very well could sign some big UFA but Suter nor Parise have expressed no desire to play in our division. |

Phaneuf is garbage and you know it, and the rest of the league knows it. No matter how you try to spin Phaneuf its just lipstick on a pig.
Duchene needs a new start? He had an offseason bc of injuries, there is no way we are giving up on him, all the fan forum chatter is making other teams believe he is available when he really isnt.
Phaneuf you arent getting a number 1 centre and Schenn isnt landing the other as well. Either of them you would have to part with your 5th overall pick to get the conversations started.

yeah, y'all could use some help on the wing as your centers are solid...
pretty sure they'll be keeping staff as he finished strong and their organizational depth on the wings is still rather weak...
personally, i think the roy/sekera/first for stastny is decent...dependent upon what the avs are looking at cap-wise and their 2012/13 projection for hishon |

Yeah it's just the idea that we could go after him, not so much that he would want to play here. |

..edit...rumor has it they are looking to shake things up, I think that for the right deal that there aren't very many untouchables right now. - twistedwrister9
But if you get a guy like Stastny back to play with Vanek, starts an interesting debate for you boys. I wouldnt mind losing Stastny to you guys, love those unis, so it wouldnt hurt seeing him wearing one. |

You can answer this one then, has Roy played the wing much? Think he has the speed and hands to keep up with Duchene? |

not sure what they'll do at #1 center...
we do know that they like ennis in a top-six, and it would seem as if hodgson is projected to be there as well...
as for vanek, if he doesn't get into better shape, a player like statsny will help, but, imo, minimally |
