Looking at only what Thomas has done on the ice...he will be hard to replace. His ability to shake off goals and simply carry the Bruins at times is more than Rask has shown to date.

Thomas became weird. It's cool to have opinions and everything, but this is a little over the top. |

Yup, my thoughts exactly. Thomas has ridiculous amount of poise, Tuukka can be a bit of a basketcase at times. When he's on, he's dominant. When there's doubt, it's no fun for the Bruins. I mean, at this very moment Rask is known best as being goaltender that blew 3-0 series lead. The silver lining in all of this is that the Bruins do have an NHL capable backup in Anton Khudobin. But still, he's no Thomas. |

Just tossing this out there to facilitate discussion but I wonder if Thomas is claiming he is going to take a year off much like Dominik Hasek told the Sabres he was going to retire if he wasn't traded. The differnce being Thomas wanting to stay in Boston and that he is negating his trade value or controlling where he might be traded to. Hasek controlled where he was traded to by stating if he wasn't traded to a definite Cup contender he would retire.
Thomas, being concerned with today's economy, you would think he would want to make all the money he could make during his prime earning years. |

good for him...hes setting his priorities and his family, friends, and faith are higher than hockey, which it should be. hopefully everything works out for him and he comes back in 2013-14 to finish his great career |

Thomas off the market just raises Luongo's stock.
It can now be said with affirmity that Thomas has pumped his tires. |

I don't know what to say here. It sucks
I'm happy enough to move forward with Rask/Khudobin, he did lead the league in GAA and save % the year he did start for us, the concerns about him are legit but I think he's matured some since.
If it wasn't for the cap hit remaining I'd be saying thanks for the great years Tim take care, but he's (frank)ing his team over with this move |

Realistically though, which teams do you see being able to take his contract? Tampa has already said no, Chicago can't afford the cap, which just leaves Toronto and Florida. Two teams. And it's not like they will be competing for him either, with Vokoun being available still. |

Well, there was a strong case for Thomas in Toronto rather than Luongo. What I meant by that was that IF a goalie is coming to Toronto through trade, it`s going to be Luongo. |

I honestly dont think Lu is even trade-able at this point.
Harding and Vokoun are there, and then there's goalies like Bernier, Bobrovsky, and Lindback who can be acquired for something similar to what Luongo might cost (in this situation, Luongo clearly on a more reasonable deal and not asking for a trade is worth way more).

Finally... I've been waiting for someone to find me a quote were Lu says he wanted a trade... one that comes from his mouth... not AV's stupid fat face. |

I can't tell by the tone of your comment what your trying to say, are you saying Luongo himself hasn't asked for a trade yet? |

I honestly laughed when I heard people talking about just Komi. Guy's been mostly a train wreck in his tenure here in TO, and even if his contract ends this year, Luongo still has that spark in him (for the next few years, at least). I was thinking along the lines him + pick(s), maybe a prospect like Blacker. I wouldn't make that trade, just because of Lus age + contract, but that's what I would expect Gillis to be asking. |
