"Rather than handling his trade from Philadelphia to Columbus like a professional -- and it must be said that Mike Richards has been extremely professional from day one in his handling of the trade to Los Angeles -- Carter quit on his new club before he even arrived there."
Not that it excuses Carter, but there's a big difference between being traded to Los Angeles, and being traded to Columbus. I don't know that Richards would have handled a trade to Columbus so well, either. |

Richards got shipped to a playoff team located in sunny LA while Carter and his long term contract was stuck in Ohio and you really expect Carter to have a better attitude than Richards? Really? I mean really really? |

Even Lebron James has his cannon ready to shoot himself out of Ohio even before his contract was up. |

Would the Flyers have dealt both Richards and Carter directly to LA for Simmons, Schenn, Voracek and the #8 pick? Probably not because the optics on that kind of deal do not look too good from a Flyer perspective. So, no doubt, the follow up deal by Columbus and LA causes short term heartburn for the Flyers. It creates a false perspective that Holmgren got smoked by the Kings.
This is merely a temporary flashpoint. The Flyers had a great season. They are set up to be an elite team for many years to come. It is petty to knock either Richards or Carter at this point. That ship sailed a long time ago. Last night LA played New Jersey. The Flyers were not on the ice. No need to create ghosts where they did not exist before. |

Bah for the record I'm not complaining about Jack Johnson, and if Howson has any decency left in him he will draft next year seeing that the kings are pretty much about to win the Cup. |

Could be worse. They could have that long term contract and NOT be winning right now. ::cough::Luongo::cough::

People expected him to, you know, be a professional about it.
Do you remember what he did?
Regardless, I'm glad the Kings are winning and hope they take the cup. That in no way means the Flyers "miss" Richards or Carter.
I can tell you that during the regular season I was in no way wishing either was back on the team, and I liked both while they were here, but I definitely lost a lot of respect for Carter the way he handled the trade and then his attitude in Columbus. |
