I hope that the League doesn't find the cue cards that Burke gave Jake for his calls and e-mails to Schultz.

these tampering accusations are so weak. So many players from other teams know each other and workout/skate together in the summer.

They talk about this stuff all the time.

Hope we get him. If we do, this makes the Liles signing make even less sense.

A) Should have never acquired him.

B) Should have never given him an extension when he had a concussion.

C) Should have traded him at the deadline.

D) Can and should still trade him now.

I agree with all except A). He was looking to be a great acquisition before his concussion. The first mistake was signing him before they had a chance to see how he'd respond post-concussion. With his play after his injury, it's really hard to say how many teams would have been interested with his new contract. I do agree they should try to trade him now, but again, will there be a market for him? I concede the return might be pretty low, but time to cut bait and move on.

If Burke can unload one of the L.A.C.K. salaries for the rights to Schultz...

I know people like to say having depth is a good thing, and it usually is. But in the case of the Leafs D I actually think its hurting us. Guys like Franson should not be in the press box. And we have a couple of guys like Schenn/Komisarek who only thrive when they play lots of minutes but can't get those minutes due to depth. Its also not fair to a guy like Holzer who may be NHL ready but doesn't look like he stands a chance to make the lineup.

Edit: I know Schenn/Komisarek have been awful, but I do think it is partially due to lack of confidence from a lack of minutes. If it were up to me Komisarek would be gone though.

I know, I was one of the two people that suggested to Alec (who blogged here) to start that site, I was also one of the first three members of that site.

A)Liles was doing as expected before his injury. B)Burke signed him for less than what he was making. C)Not sure trading him was an option, what would his return be as a player that was coming off a concussion. D)IF the Leafs do sign Schultz, he should be treated as any other prospect and not automatically given a roster spot. IF Schultz makes the team, and is better than Liles, then he should be traded.

Oh for sure. he def. struggled after the concussion...but really...most people do. oh no, he didnt play well and we got 5th pick overall. I guess UG wanted him to be legendary and score a goal a game so we ended up in 9th place.

once again, contradicting everything he says.

I like Liles as a player but he's redundant on the Leafs. no idea why they extended him when we have Jake as our up and coming PMD

I know Burke will never trade him now because he's loyal to his guys.

Ideally however I'd love to trade Liles and sign a guy like Shane O'Brien

Gunnarsson-Phaneuf
O'Brien - Franson/Schenn
Gardiner - Shultz

looks solid

Schenn is allowed to have ups and downs. He's 23.

Komisarek on the other hand; complete waste of space in every way imaginable.
