any reason why there was a drop off in points this year from 54 to 37?

I did look at the hockeydb stats. Their top scorer in 2010-11 had 59 points and had 4 players with 30 points or more. In 2011-2012 their top scorer had 41 points and they had 7 players with 30 points or more so it seemed more balanced. But i think it means pulkkinen necessarily stirs the pot on that team

Pulkkinen has a lot of potential, I like him.

He had a rough spring, though. He was dropped out of the Jokerit line up during the playoffs, then he played 2 games with the Jokerit junior team before being a healthy scratch for them too.

and if the wings sign Hasek, i swear to god I will stop watching the team.
he was toast in 2008, only going to be worse 4 years later.

Pulkinen, Nyquist, Jurco, and Jarnekork are the future.

All 4 are pretty promising. Excited to see what they can do in the AHL when they all officially make it there (save Nyquist obviously). Give us a real good indication just how good they could be.

I think Tatar skates better, is better defensively and more likely to take a hit to make a play than Hudler. At the WC against Canada, he didn't shy away from the physical play and initiate some of it. I've never ever seen Hudler try to level someone at center ice like Tatar did to Tavares.

I hope Pulkkinen can become the kind of sniper the Wings have been lacking since Hull and Shanahan left but that is still years away if he ever does become one.

pretty sure tatar woud would be welcomed with open arms by almost nhl organization. Rangers will gladly take him off your hands.

Hm, that's kind of concerning. Looking around a bit seems he has some attitude issues, hopefully he grows out of that. Has the potential to be a huge steal for a 4th round pick.

There was some talk about him being a bit lazy and not pushing himself hard enough this year.

He is highly talented and has natural goal-scoring instincts, if Detroit can instill good work ethics in him the potential is indeed huge.

To be fair, when Franzen was drafted in 2004, he was already 24 years old, had been a pro for five full years, and had been passed over already in draft after draft. And even then, because of the lockout, he didn't get to his "first camp" until 2005, when he was 25 going on 26.

Franzen was never drafted to be a "hot shot" prospect. He was drafted because Hakan Andersson thought the Red Wings could plug him straight into the bottom six as an experienced and effective defensive forward. Which he was for those first few years.

That fact that he actually turned into a moderately successful power forward, and that (at least in the eyes of some) that moderate success would completely rob him of his desire to play focused two-way hockey, was all pretty much a complete surprise and never predicted even after Franzen first made the team.
