Do I smell a trade? - coffee junkie

I don't see how Weber has any value - but if he does - let's get rid of him asap. |

he could be a #7 guy for someone.. he once was decent and showed promise back about 4 years ago.. he got injured and never really got back to where he was. someone might take a chance on him.. that being said you aren't getting much for him |

I def smell a trade. I can't see why McNabb doesn't start in Buffalo and there's no reason why Sulzer should be "just a #7 guy". He was definitely a solid pickup and played very well with Ehrhoff. Definitely feels like Weber and/or Sekera could be the odd men out. |

we have two guys that are just #7 guys in Sulzer and Weber... get all excited about sulzer all you want but until we see more than a snapshot from him i am not going to think he is anything more than that. |

Yeah, no reason to think that McNabb has to be on the big club, especially after the lofty expectations set for MAG last season and how that panned out. McNabb could be ready next year, or he could play 22-26 minutes a night in Rochester.
It's nice to have options. |

Very true. Definitely wasn't expecting that lol. |

Hey guys, is it just me or is this the worst playoffs ever? All recent cup winners and losers out in the first round, then Philly in the second. Not a lot remaining star power. No comebacks, few game 7's. What gives? |

Round one was amazing, but I agree it's fizzled a bit in the later rounds. Hoping for a NYR-LA match-up.; |

watching the people of Philly lynch Holmgren when Richards and Carter are skating around with the cup should be entertaining |

MAG hardly had lofty expectations - we knew he moved that puck well and that was about it. |

the McNabb analogy can also be applied to Sulzer... i am glad they got him for a small term 1 year contract...
I almost would rather have McNabb start down, give Sulzer the chance to prove he is for real and if he isn't then give Weber the shot and if that doesn't pan out then look to McNabb. He could use some refinement and would benefit from top pairing minutes in the A |

he actually looked like he learned to play defense during his quick stint up in 2010/2011 |

Yeah, if he's that good then he will find his way to the Sabres during the season anyway. I like how Detroit takes their time with most of their prospects. And they seem to be doing OK. |

Not true. After the end of last season people were saying that he was a lock for our top 6, some said top 4. People thought his contract was going to be closer to what Sekera got (and vice versa.) The hype machine was churning. Obviously the team management knew differently, but the fans were clamoring for MAG. |

EDM needs defenseman, I don't know would EDM trade 1st overall to BUF though. It could be other assets to land one of BUF's defenseman. |

Yeah thats exactally what I was thinking. I died after the first round. Hopefully Kings-Rangers can revive this thing! |

"8, count 'em 8, defensemen under contract for next season. Add up all the money that Regier has committed to his blue line. Some one has to move out via trade.
Myers ($5.5 million), Ehrhoff ($4 million), Regehr ($4,020,000), Leopold ($3 million), Sekera ($2,750,00) , Weber ($950,000), Sulzer ($725,000), McNabb ($900,000).
"
THat doesn't even count Brennan who is on the cusp. Someone is getting moved. My money is on Weber or Regehr. |

IMO you can add Pysyk in to the mix as well. |

If you thought that then you must not have been that familiar with what you want in an NHL defenseman.
Plus I don't rememeber anyone "clamoring for him".
