Nice blog Bill. Do you think they will try to extend Hartnell this offseason or do they see Simmonds or jake eventually filling his role??

That's the topic of Monday's blog . Nutshell version: I think they will open talks during the season.

injuries finally posted.

I don't think this is everyone, even yet. What about Voracek and Grossmann, for example.

And for JVR is IS the hip, so we get to miss the "how do YOU know he has a hip problem" comments all summer. A win for us, a loss for him.

Good Stuff, Bill.

Simmonds had a breakout year, and scored more than anyone could have expected. He did struggle with consistency, but even when he wasn't scoring goals, he was noticeable on the ice.

Wonder if the revelation that JvR and Carle are among the walking wounded will shut up the nay sayers...probably not.

Shhhh...be careful. You sound like Bryzgalov, and he's too soft to play in Philly. At least according to the morons on Phill.com who get mad at you when you point out the slightest flaw in their theory

Really doesn't matter what the fans think because Homer is making all the decisions. Will find out soon enough what his plan is for the Flyers.

The one thing I can say is that other teams are not completely healthy either during the playoffs.

Not saying that they aren't, but to expect a guy to be 100% effective with a torn hip labrum or a torn stomach muscle is pretty stupid.

I agree, next year JVR should be better , Carle is a warrior. Skating with a torn stomach muscle is no joke. The torn hip labrum also screws with a player as well.

Interesting for Giroux to have both wrists worked on.

Agreed. It does effect their play and can limit what they can do. I do take that into account but I still dont give injuries an excuse for the team losing because other teams are going through similiar issues.

What did you think of the play of Henrik Samuelson last night? I thought he was impressive.

Very interesting. We heard about maybe one wrist but both is a bit of a surprise.

He still played at a very high level. I think the Devils were the reason Giroux wasnt as good in the second round.

Shea Weber admitted to feeling betrayed by Alexander Radulov. "You feel a little bit betrayed, but I am sure (Radulov) feels bad about it now and he looks back on it and wishes it didn’t happen," Weber said. "Those are the things you can’t take back and we’ve got to move forward." Weber and Radulov are both scheduled to become restricted free agents this summer. The Predators are expected to not only want to re-sign Weber, but ideally ink him to a long-term deal. However, they might decide to part ways with Radulov.

Good Stuff Bill.

I agree that the injury/surgery list looks short. I feel bad about commenting on Simmonds having "bad hands" if he was playing with a broken finger in the playoffs....Still think he over clutches/torques the stick at times and that is why so many pucks bounce off his blade. He has come a long way and I think he is a good 20+ goal banger for years to come.

Is the Kimmo surgery similar to what Metz had?

When you have sick puck handling skills that aren't human, you're bound to break a wrist or 2 from time to time.

EDIT: Im curious to the number of ankles and broken egos he's responsible for as well.

The season JVR had was explained with that injury report. Also it exemplifies the kids toughness.

Did not think Matt Carle would show up on that report but dayum, a torn stomach muscle is rough.

I feel good about this team going into next year. Instead of blowing up the roster and going crazy in Free Agency, it needs to be left up to the players to improve individually and as a team. Anyone we bring in here is going to have flaws and thus the vicious cycle of pointing out scapegoats will continue.

Good write-up Bill.

The nature of the injury always has to come into consideration. Also I'd like to see how many players on the remaining teams end up needing surgery, and how severe their injuries were. It's not like the guys on the Flyers are getting their tonsils taken out.

Simmonds was made from the orange and black. He never gives up and you know that he will try every night. I think the team got a lot in return for Richards and I like the trade even after this year. The team was missing a player like Simmonds.

There has to be more to this injury list.
