I believe I'm second

Not a Flyer's fan but have been slowly earning respect for the Team and Organization. Kind of a disappointing belly flop after the domination they showed in the first round. Not sure they have it in them to come back. Jersey is playing pretty tight right now. We'll see...

Its a black & white rule ek, Ward's high stick drew blood, its 4 minutes. Ranger PP finally showed up in those 4 minutes.

I wish more refs had the courage to call penalties in that kind of situation instead of just putting the whistle away in the final 2 minutes. It was the right call. The Caps had several of man chances in the 3rd that could have salted the game away but continued to pass up shooting opportunities to try to make the perfect play...and it cost them because on several of the chances they didn't even manage a shot.

If someone where to tell me we were watching a Disney sequel to "Angels in the Outfield" called "Angels in the Goal Crease" I would believe it.

here's the rub, most of the refs don't have the cajones to make that call.
in fact I bet 9 times out of 10 that call is let go. the players have no clue anymore what's going to be a penalty and what's going to be sluffed off.
Phoenix scores the game winner on a play that starts with a corkscrewed player going down and no call on Brule.

I don't think that call is let go in any circumstance, I actually think that play was bad enough that Shanahan should have a look at it, it was way more brutal than people are thinking of it.

stick was swung head high will all the force he had without any regard for any players around him

it's way more brutal than people are thinking of it

this theory that it could have been let go because people hate NY is a bunch crap

I don't think it was "brutal". I watched the game, great game! Congrats to you guys but I've seen far worse let go. I've also seen far less get called, that's just the way NHL officiating is!

i think you may be exaggerating it just a bit

it was a bad decision and it was the right call, but he def didnt use all of his force and it seemed more accidental TBH, bad result but it didnt look like he tried to do that, especially knowing there was a high % that it was going into OT he wouldnt do something stupid on purpose

and if he did use all his force then im pretty sure the rangers on the ice would have done more about it and torts would have gone crazy in the post game interview/conf.

Reading comprehension FTW!

There is a common thread among the teams left playing in the NHL. It isn't about talent. It is all about desperation. And it is all about playing all four lines in all three zones for all three (sometimes 4,5,6) periods.

The Devils are included in the above group.

* The Penguins had the least active sticks in the defensive zone of any team I can remember. Especially on the power play. The Flyers could skate the puck around, basically at will on the power play. The Devils have active sticks. The Devils have their heads on a swivel.

* The Devils have had 7 Game Winning Goals in these playoffs from 7 different players.

In the first round of the playoffs there were 7 playoffs series, and then there was Pittsburgh/Philly. In all the other playoff series the teams learned how to play more desperate hockey. They learned how play defensive playoff hockey. The Flyers haven't gotten there yet. If you had turned on Game 4 at any point, and not known the score in the series or the game, you would have sworn the Devils were a team fighting for their playoff lives....not a team trying to get a 3-1 lead.

Meaning, the Devils were playing harder, smarter, more desperate hockey.

But of course you are right, no credit was given to the Devils.
