FIRST....

PRESIDENT'S CHOICE...

or I should have said cup........

I know it is difficult to remain relevant in April and all this seems to be is to generate conversation.... this is like 'The Summer of Kaberle' --- will he, will he not be traded.....

But here.... this rumour is so shallow and there is nothing to it.

Does Schenn need to be in every single Maple Leaf trade scenario? This guy is here to stay people just need to accept that.

Sorry, Mike...
but doesn't Komisarek have a no-movement, as opposed to a no-trade?

I seem to remember this discussion coming up on these boards a while ago, and this was the general understanding...

You're on the right track. He can still nullify if he really feels like being traded, given the team suits his preferences.

Komisarek does indeed have a NMC. But that's only one of the many reasons why he won't go to Vancouver for Luongo.

Dregger has family connections with Nonis and he's just trying to drive the value down for Luongo. I'd love to be on that phone call when Burke calls and offers Komaserik (sp) and some leaf plug, I mean prospect, for Luongo.

IMO Luongo's value will start at a solid prospect or first round pick, and a useful player. Depending on how many teams are interested, that could go up.

What Canuck fans say on a blog or what Dreger says on TSN doesn't change Luongo's value. Luongo's value, just like any other player, is determined by what other GMs are willing to pay or have paid in the past.

Just because Canuck fans hate Luongo and Dreger speculates on swapping bad contracts, doesn't mean that's what is happening in Gillis' office.

Which is why he'll stay a canuck.
Sorry to say but vancouver made their bed signing Luo to that ridiculous long contract.
His contract nullifies any real value that luo has in terms of skill.
For vancouver to expect anything back in return other than to get out from under the stupid contract is ludicrous. Any team trading for Luongo is basically trading 5+ years of future cap space in buyout.
Any gm worth his salt is going to want a pick or prospect with luongo in return for that valuable cap space.

As a toronto fan who still cringes at the 1 mil annual payment to darcy tucker, I'm not sure what Vancouver has to offer up, that would make it interesting enough for me to want this deal to go down. Even if Komi goes back in return, he is only 2 more years of grief.
For me 5.5 of cap $ all the way to 2022 is a blue chip commodity, not to be handed out for free.

buy out is different than retirement though, he'll retire when he can't keep a starter's job in the league

I guess we will see when the trade goes down... as always each fan base tends to over value their own players. You say that Vancouver would have to essentially "pay" a team to take Luongo off their hands by adding in a prospect?? At least I was trying to be realistic...

Ha another funny idea from Vancouver fans. Expecting Lou to retire just because. Don't worry, he will stick around to make a few more million.
